The space About BASIT HOUSE Originally built in 1928! The house is located in a charming community of single-family homes – some eclectic and some newly built homes. It has had many renovations in the past but you can still see the history. The wooden floors in the living room, 1st bedroom, and dining room are all original. The brick fireplace is also original. This colonial house had an extension built in the ’90s to add a large kitchen and a third bedroom to the main floor. The property has been just renovated with a brand new bathroom, new laundry space. Brand new 14inch memory foam mattresses, soft bedding, and cloud-like pillows - you'll be resting and dreaming in no time. Enjoy super fast internet 330Mbs/25Mbs for work and streaming movies and videos. The street is quiet and not overly burdened with traffic, though it is used by the public bus system which helps you stay connected. Recently, it was discovered that there is another roadway 4ft lower than the current road! I can’t imagine how the landscape must have looked nearly 100 years ago. By Foot: 12min walk to Metro to go into DC & Downtown Silver Spring to grab a quick bite or pick up some groceries. By Metro: We are located very close to the metro, a 10-min walk to Silver Spring Station on the Red Line. From here you can go into Washington, D.C, and all the way to Reagan National Airport. By Bus: There is a bus stop right next to the house. From Downtown: Take the 20 Hillandale Bus To Downtown: Take the 20 Hillandale Bus Bicycle: 3 Capital Bikeshare stations are available with bikes to rent within .5Mi. Rent a bike for one trip (less than 30 minutes) for $2 or for 24 hours for $8. Walk to the station and follow the directions on the machine to rent the bike. Re-dock the bike at any other Capital Bikeshare Dock in the city. Parking: 1 visitor pass is included with your stay at BASIT HOUSE. The street has permit parking - but a county garage is available nearby. Other things to note Silver Spring also offers many opportunities – with the vibrant and colorful Saturday farmers market in warmer months and an ice skating rink on the Veterans Plaza in the winter, not to even mention shopping, restaurants, and an independent movie theater (AFI) hosting international movie festivals and independent films. Daytrips give you access to wineries, numerous hiking trails, as well as more historic attractions like Mount Vernon (former plantation of George Washington). The possibilities are endless! Whether you are in town for a weekend or a week - Silver Spring has local restaurants, coffee, and the Saturday Farmers Market. Walk to the metro to go straight into DC - Union Station, Gallery Place/Chinatown, Metro Center, and Dupont Circle - all accessible without switching trains.
