The log burning stove in the lounge is not needed to heat the house, but it does add a a magical touch to the winter months - and all logs are included. Tucked away along a private drive, the property is quiet and the garden safely enclosed. Climbing frame, football goals and swings in the garden, with dining table, gas bbq and lounge chairs on which to relax and enjoy the views towards Lyme Regis. The village green, with its playground and tennis courts, is just a 5 minute stroll across the field on the East Devon Way. Continue further along the picturesque River Lym and you can walk to the seafront in about 45 minutes. Set in the desirable village of Uplyme, on the East Devon Way, Dorset/Devon border. Discover this rural idyll just a mile from the seaside town of Lyme Regis. Excellent base from which to holiday or work, while enjoying and exploring the beaches and spectacular footpaths along the World Heritage Coastline. With the East Devon Way on your doorstep, guests have immediate access to a vast array of footpaths and cycle trails - including the Southwest Coast Path - without the need for taking your car out. Two separate studios available for friends/relatives (see below). We have other guests in the vicinity and ask everyone to respect the peaceful location of the holiday accommodation. Your access to the swimming pool is EXCLUSIVE. It’s a good size for fun and exercise - 7x4m (23x13ft) and kept at a toasty 31-32 degrees! The property sleeps 10+2. Five bedrooms in total - two downstairs, each with ensuite bathroom - one King and one with SuperKing bed. One has a mezzanine above providing two extra single beds (with low ceiling). Ideal for children 8+ years. Three further bedrooms upstairs (a four poster King and two twin rooms) share the family bathroom with double-ended bath and separate rainfall shower with mood lighting. Large lounge with double set of patio doors opening onto spacious terrace with dining table and chairs. Wood burning stove (all wood provided). Fully equipped kitchen with American-style fridge freezer, range cooker, microwave and dishwasher. Table and chairs for 12. Downstairs washroom. Central to the village and yet tucked away on a safe and private drive, Coombehayes Barn has a large and enclosed garden, with swings, climbing frame, football goal. Plenty of loungers on which to relax and resin weave table and chairs for outdoor dining. Gas BBQ. Table tennis is in a separate barn just next to the garden, and again, is for your exclusive and unrestricted use. Bed linen and towels provided. Stair gate, cots and high chairs available. Parking for five cars. We take our responsibility towards the environment seriously, providing bins for recycling and using eco-friendly products as much as possible. The whole property is centrally heated via a wood pellet boiler. Guests can control the temperature via thermostats throughout the house. Coombehayes Barn boasts a tranquil yet convenient location, just a stroll from Uplyme village green (with playground, tennis court, village shop) and a picturesque 45 minute walk along River Lym to the hustle and bustle of Lyme Regis seafront - with its sandy beach, watersports and variety of eateries. The East Devon Way is just at the end of the driveway, opening an array of walks from your door. Turn left across the field to join the walk into Lyme Regis. Turn right and within minutes you access Prescott Pinetum, beautiful woodland with some ancient trees and on to Trinity Woods Nature Reserve with its network of footpaths and cycle tracks. Perfect for picnics and den-making! Straight ahead takes you under the picturesque viaduct and on to the hamlet of Ware, where you can join the South West Coast Path. From here, follow right on the Undercliffs path towards Seaton or left, through National Trust land with glorious far-reaching views of the sea. Here, take steps down to Monmouth Beach and stroll along the famous Cobb, surrounding the 13th century harbour, famous for its literary connections, featuring in both Jane Austins ‘Persuasion’ and John Fowles’ novel & film ‘The French Lieutenant’s Woman’. Enjoy a swim in the sea or fossil hunting on Back Beach. Within a 15 minute drive of Coombehayes Barn, you can join the South West Coast Path at Charmouth and climb Golden Cap, the highest point on the south coast. Alternatively, enjoy bird-watching in Seaton Wetlands with its 4km of level trails and boardwalk through beautiful marshland and reed beds along the River Axe. As well as walking, there’s a vast array of other activities to keep you and yours entertained during your stay - all within 15 minutes’ drive: - Hire a beach hut in Lyme - for the day or for the week - Horseriding at Woodhouse Stables - Paddle boarding - paddle board rental and lessons at Boylos on Marine Parade in Lyme - Kayaking - hire kayaks at The Tackle Box on Marine Parade - Nordic Walking with local expert Juliet - Tennis by the village hall in Uplyme – just a few minutes walk away - Fossil hunting – on Back beach or Monmouth Beach - do it yourself or hire a guide. - Rib Rides – cruise along the Jurassic World Heritage Coast to Beer Head and back - Deep sea fishing - fish for mackerel with Harry May Boat Trips - Shooting at The Tunnel, the UK’a premier shooting centre - Seaton Tramway - three miles of beautiful countryside along the Axe Valley. - Crazy Golf - Langmoor Gardens, Lyme Regis - Birdwatching at Seaton Wetlands - nearly 4km of level trails and boardwalk through beautiful marshland and reed beds alongside the river Axe When It comes to eating, we are spoilt for choice with a splendid array of restaurants. We are just a few minutes away from River Cottage, HQ of celebrity chef, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall. Swim, The Lyme Bay or the Pilot Boat are just a few eateries to be recommended along the seafront. Relax with a cream tea in the beautiful garden at the Alexandra Hotel or enjoy a traditional pub meal at The Talbot Arms just down the road in Uplyme.
