Gardener's Cottage, West Stow Hall.
Gardener's Cottage, West Stow Hall.
Country house in the walled garden of historic West Stow Hall
Description
Set within the old walled garden of West Stow Hall, Gardener's Cottage is a lovely home. It offers two large bedrooms and a family bath/shower room. Meals can be taken either in the large kitchen or in the spacious dinning/sitting room with its wood burner and French doors opening onto its private terrace. Having a totally enclosed garden dogs are very welcome. Free sat TV/DVD, Central heating and Wi-Fi. Please note that we are 5 miles from Bury St Edmunds. The space Gardener’s Cottage is situated in a walled garden so is totally private and ideal for travellers with pets as the garden is very secure and dogs can roam at will but please note that, as we are surrounded by fields occupied by mares and foals, they must remain on leads at all times when in the grounds of the Hall. There is an additonal charge of £25 for pets payable in cash on arrival The garden is also a real sun-trap and very pretty so ideal for barbecues or just sunbathing. The whole cottage is full of light with large windows overlooking a paddock on one side and gardens on the other. French windows make the sitting room a pleasure in the summer whilst the log burner means it’s always cosy in winter. Larger groups of up to 10 could also be easily accommodated by booking Orchard Cottage, which sleeps 4, as well. Do note that though we have ample parking so guests are welcome to bring 2/3 cars it is in front of the hall. It is not possible to park next to the cottage and to reach the cottage involves a short walk of a couple of minutes across flat ground. We ask that guests respect our privacy as the gardens around the hall although not fenced off are private. There are two ways to the cottage one of which does not involve going into the hall’s garden. It does mean going up a short flight of steps so may not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues or when carrying bags in which case the more straightforward route should be used. Guest access Guests have the use of all the garden . Other things to note We are surrounded by fields occupied by mares and foals so dogs have to be on a lead when in the grounds of the Hall. The cottage garden is secure so it is fine for dogs to roam there. Do note that there is an extra £25 charge for dogs for payable on arrival in cash. We welcome one pet per stay and more possibly but only after discussion. As there is little outside lighting guests should bring a torch or similar if arriving at night or ask at the hall to borrow a torch.
