When you arrive at Villa Tortuga you will be surrounded by nature and a peacefulness that comes with your stay on the north part of the island. You will see coco plum bushes, coconut trees, sea grape trees, plantain & banana trees. You will be able to bird watch from the pool. Early in the morning you will hear the green parrots fly in to feed on the seeds in the trees, as well as many other types of birds. Your view of the Most Beautiful Turquois Water on the island right out front. I would suggest the plane to get your vacation started sooner. Once you arrive at the island your host Patojo and Megan will meet you at your arrival point. If you want, we can arrange a golf cart for you at your arrival. These usually are $50 per day depending on season, could be a bit more. Then your host will escort you to Villa Tortuga. They will be available for questions by phone, as well as me by phone or email. Once you arrive at Villa Tortuga Patojo will give you the keys and a tour of the property. Any questions you have he can assist you with. If you need to book a tour, snorkeling or diving he can help with that too. If you want to do private excursions Patojo is your go to guy. As he is a licensed boat captain, dive & snorkel guide. There are a few resorts nearby you can walk to for restaurants and bars. You also passed by a lot of them on the way to the property. Villa Tortuga is located 7 miles north of town. Pretty much in the middle of the island on the reef side infront of the most beautiful turquoise water on the island. It takes 30 minutes by golf cart to get to town. It is a gorgeous, nature-filled drive with ocean views on one side and lagoon views on the other, with countless resorts, restaurants, bars, and markets, and shops to enjoy along the way. For those guests who enjoy spending time at Secret Beach, it is the same distance from our home to get there as it is to get there from town. When choosing a location to stay on the island, there are those who prefer to get away from the noise and hustle of the town and prefer the sounds of nature and watching the butterflies migrate, the ospreys flying overhead, and the sounds of the local mockingbirds. We have lightning bugs almost year-round in the foliage in the front, back, and side yards, and you see them in the early hours on less windy evenings. Our guests tend to book our newly built pool home specifically to enjoy a much more private, quieter, and peaceful atmosphere with far more wide-open space and a brand-new private pool with rafts and floats for our guests to use. Patojo can show you where to get your groceries along the way to Villa Tortuga or if you want can have them delivered in advance or once you get there. Just let us know in advance. The island just got a new fiber optic high speed internet line. See photos for picture of the speed test. : ) For a more peaceful experience, we opted not to install TV's in our home. There is of course amazing star gazing from the roof top patio and wonderful sunrises from the veranda as you have your morning beverage of choice. ; ) Me personally I like to disconnect from the outside world when I come here on vacation. Last time I was here I lost my phone the second day. That was one of the best things that happened to me on that trip. Other things to note The property is located 7 miles from the hustle and bustle town. This newly built, modern property is far enough from town to be secluded and private yet just a golf cart ride away from town, secret beach, and tours. You will probably want to rent a golf cart which run about $50 day depending on season could be slightly more. There are a few resorts within walking distance if you want to go to dinner or out for drinks. You will fly into Belize City and either take the ferry which takes about 90 minutes and could be rough depending on weather. The other option is the small plane which takes about 15 minutes. I suggest the small plane. I can arrange the golf cart for you and have Patojo or Megan (the property caretaker and manager) meet you at the airport and take you to the house. All bathrooms have drawers and cabinets and toothpaste holders. . A supply of toilet paper is provided. Large luxurious beach towels in a nice variety of colors and patterns for use at Villa Tortuga. Other quaint surprises. (Note: please do not take bath or pool towels off site, on excursions, or leave in the golf cart. Replacements are not readily available so please note there is a $70 replacement per lost pool or bath towel). Each Master Bedrooms has a locking safe. All 4 bedrooms have closets with plenty of hangers, and drawers. Each bedroom has its own AC unit separate from the main to individually control your ideal comfort level. Each bedroom has direct access to the back verandas as well as to the home interior. The 360⁰ rooftop views are spectacular. The sun rises from the ocean view out front early in the morning and sets on the lagoon side view in the back. Whether the full moon is rising, or no visible moon at all, you will be treated to twinkling stars, the vast expanse of milky way and brightly lit planets on the verandas or top view deck. Bring your telescope or high-powered binoculars for an unforgettable, light pollution-free experience in a peaceful and private setting.
