Description
Hidden away in the heart of Yum Balam Flora y Fauna Nature Reserve, this boutique resort property with a 4 by 12 meter-swimming pool sits on two acres of lush tropical gardens full of fruit trees, blooming flowers, and organic vegetables. Off the beaten track, on the outskirts of an ancient Mayan Village and surrounded by jungle, Casa De Piedra Solferino offers plenty of space and tranquility for you to recharge and connect with nature. The space A collaboration of international designers and local craftsmen/artisans allowed La Casa de Piedra (“House of Stone”) to become the unique space it is today. Adhering to the ancient art of Mayan stone masonry that dates back to the pre-Columbian era, it took over a year to create La Casa mindfully. We strove to respect local styles and techniques, while also adding our own contemporary sensibility to the creation of La Casa. Utilizing reclaimed and sustainably sourced materials from the region, La Casa thus features minimalist interiors that are also reflective of local building traditions. As a result, the house is abundant in natural materials such as repurposed Vista Maya stone, exposed wood beams, polished concrete walls and floors, and grass (grass) roofs. The House received its name when local villagers began calling the emerging structure by its most distinguishing feature: it was made of reclaimed Vista Maya stone. Suites: The spacious Vista Maya Suite is located in the main stone structure and features a 5-meter-high ceiling, a king size bed, plus a loft area that can be used for yoga/exercise or as an extra sleeping space. Adjacent is a large, spacious bathroom with an open shower. The Palapa Suite features a grass roof, queen size bed, and bathroom with an open shower. It also has a small seating area with two chairs and a table. The glass door opens onto a rooftop terrace overlooking the pool and garden. Casita Jardin is a separate structure surrounded by blooming plants and trees. It has a full-size bed, a suspended day bed, a table, and a bathroom with an outdoor shower. The simple kitchen extends outward onto a large space covered by the palapa. The living room is adjacent to the kitchen and has a large dining room table, coffee table, two built-in couches and a small desk. Two oversized glass doors open into the pool area. There is also a half bathroom attached to the living room. *************************************************************************************** A collaboration of international designers and local artisans allowed La Casa de Piedra to become the unique space it is today.
