An island generator (which powers the house) typically will get turned on if the power is expected to be out for a long period of time. There is not a generator at the house, so we rely on the island generator for power. Water outages are frequent due to old infrastructure. We do have a cistern to provide back up water to the house. There are times the cistern pump is out of order (waiting for parts etc.) or there's no power to run the pump. If that's the case, you will not have water. The Wifi also goes out without warning, and could be out for days. Island life isn't always easy, but luckily there are beautiful beaches that make up for it! Insects love the tropics, and we work very hard to keep them out of the house! Having said that, you may see, or come in contact with ants, lizzards, big flying roaches, mosquitos, spiders etc. that have made their way inside the house. Please put away food, and keeps surfaces clean of crumbs. Basically, anything that will encourage them from entering. Keeping the screen doors closed as much as possible will make a world of difference!
