The Cottage at Bear Butte Gardens is located on a farm alongside beautiful Bear Butte State Park just outside of Sturgis. This private studio space has all of the amenities and easy access just off Highway 79. Guests can enjoy morning sunrises, tea or coffee on the front porch, bird watching during the day, and star gazing at night uninhibited by street lights. Located on the edge of the Black Hills with easy access to trails, scenic drives, hiking, skiing, and fishing! Enjoy breathtaking views of Bear Butte (Mato Paha) and sunrises from inside The Cottage or on the front porch. You can even do some nighttime star gazing on the front porch, uninhibited by street lights. You can enjoy peace and solitude while at the same time having access to fresh organic vegetables and meat at The Farmstand just around the corner. Guests can access the entire studio space of The Cottage and the front porch. Farm tours can be prearranged. Guests are asked to NOT wander about the farm without prior approval. The Cottage is tucked behind our retail Farm Stand and commercial kitchen and guests may shop at the Farm Stand Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Cottage has a private entrance for guests, but we are not far away if you would like a quick (prearranged) tour of the farm and gardens. This is a working farm with poultry, cattle, sheep, and goats as well as an organic garden/greenhouse business, so we keep busy while you are vacationing and enjoy the sights of the Black Hills. The Groseks all grew up in the northern Black Hills area and are happy to assist you with ideas for meals, excursions, trails, etc. Stop by the local Chamber of Commerce to visit with our daughter Veronica, the Executive Director, for even more local information! Sturgis hosts the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in early August each year with an estimated half million people in attendance annually. The rest of the year we are a small town of just over 6500 people with pride in our community and surrounding area. There are many amazing hiking and biking trails just minutes away from The Cottage or you can travel scenic byways through the Black Hills to a myriad of outdoor destinations. Sturgis offers wonderful dining just 10 minutes away or you can head up to Deadwood for some gambling with an air of old time nostalgia. For public transportation Lyft is available from The Cottage into Sturgis or surrounding areas. Our retail space does have traffic coming and going during normal business hours (Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.), but customers do not have access to The Cottage which has a separate entrance around the back of the retail space.
