***PLEASE MESSAGE BEFORE BOOKING OUR CABIN. We had a tree fall on our deck and currently have no heat.*** A peaceful, clean place to get away from it all. Family-friendly, two story modified A-frame cabin with a large deck in a quiet area in the woods. Located in a very quiet, residential neighborhood of Twain Harte. Knotty pine ceilings and walls and simple, modern decor throughout make it a relaxing place to stay. The Thompson Lodge has been in the family for decades and we hope you'll enjoy staying here. We can sleep up to 6 guests (kids 2+ are included), but the cabin is best enjoyed with 2-4 guests. The cabin has one bedroom (with queen sized bed) and bathroom downstairs. Upstairs features a large loft (with king bed and TV), second bedroom with partial wall (with two twin sized beds), and second bathroom. There is a small deck off the upstairs rooms. The house is kid friendly with puzzles, board games, and toys. Parents: please supervise your kids around the wood stove and stairs. Enjoy the great views of the woods from every window! Sometimes, from the deck you can watch deer walk through the yard on their way to and from the creek at the bottom of the property. There's a lot to do nearby! We are a 5 minute drive to downtown Twain Harte, a 20 minute drive away from downtown Sonora, 25 minutes away from Black Oak Casino, 30 minutes away from Pinecrest Lake & Dodge Ridge Ski Resort, 30 minutes away from the town of Murphys, and 90 minutes away from Yosemite National Park. Of the two private lakes we have access to, only Upper Crystal Falls Lake is open at this time. Guests have access to entire cabin as well as two small, private lakes that are just a short drive away (Upper Crystal Falls and Lower Crystal Falls Lakes). **At this time, only Upper Crystal Falls Lake is open.** If you need to do laundry, guests are welcome to use the washer and dryer which are located in the basement. Our property is not fenced in, but please respect our neighbors' yards. Firewood is not usually provided; please do not burn wet wood. We are available at anytime via phone or email if you have any questions, concerns, or need a recommendation. Since we don't live on the premises, we may not be present at check in/check out. Our cabin is located on a quiet, woodsy street in a hilly Twain Harte neighborhood and just a short drive away from downtown. Some of our neighbors are residents, while other cabins are vacation houses like ours. You can see other homes from our cabin. We are a short drive from the town center of Twain Harte, and about 15-20 minutes from Sonora. Our road is windy and narrow, please drive carefully! From the deck you can see a small lake (Upper Crystal Falls Lake) and a creek at the bottom of our property (Sullivan Creek). Park on our driveway or just off the street at the top of the property. Public transportation is lacking in the area and there are no sidewalks on our street. The hilly roads in the neighborhood are great for cyclists! We can show you a great route if you're interested in riding around. If you're coming during snowy weather, please check Caltrans for road conditions and come prepared with 4wd, and snow tires or chains. Do not park down the driveway when it is snowy as you might get stuck. NO FIRES ALLOWED. Do not light a bonfire or campfire on the property. No smoking is allowed. Guests may only use the propane grill for cooking outdoors. Fires in the fireplace are also allowed. Firewood is not provided. WINTER AT THE CABIN: Please be prepared for dangerous road conditions, lots of snow or rain, cold temperatures, and the potential for power outages to occur. When the power goes out, this means the only source of heat is the wood stove. Please check road conditions and weather prior to your trip and plan accordingly. You may need chains and/or 4wd. It gets really dark out here at night, so bring a flashlight! Bedding and bath towels are provided. Beach towels are not provided. Board games and puzzles are located in the upstairs bedroom. Extra chairs and umbrellas for the deck are located in the basement. Wi-Fi password will be made available upon check in. Depending on your cell phone provider, service can be spotty. The house has a land line should you need to make phone calls. Please note that our cabin runs on electricity and power outages are pretty common, especially due to falling trees in bad weather. We want to set expectations by telling our guests this up front, not to startle you! We hope to install a generator in the near future.
