Village Retreat, center of town
Great location. This is a early 1900’s colonial is nestled in the center of Old Forge Village. The home has 5 bedrooms with two full bathrooms. The main level provides a large living room, dining room, laundry room and eat in kitchen with island seating. There is a closed in front porch and the flat rear yard has a picnic table, BBQ grill, Adirondack chairs and a fire pit. Review “other details” regarding pets. The exterior of the house can be slightly deceiving from photos. The home is older but has strong bones and the house interior is “mostly” renovated while still holding its original charm from the early 1900’s. Updates include the bathrooms, kitchen, appliances and downstairs flooring. The front porch is cozy and a great spot to relax in the evenings. The main staircase and banister is a favorite among most being completely original. I take pride in having the home as clean as possible and ready for each group that comes in. With that said, if you are looking for a brand new house with a mint left on the pillows this not may be for you. My reviews speak for themselves but I like to be transparent because making everyone happy is impossible. 😊 Guests can enjoy the entire house and property however, the garage is off limits. Parking must be directly in front of the garage or in front of the house on the street. The driveway “access” is shared with the neighbor next door so guests must be respectful of this. The bicycles advertised in the photos are stored in a shed located on the side of the garage. There is also some Adirondack chairs stored in there for outside seating. Myself, the owner lives 4 hours away. With that said, I am extremely quick with responding back. If there is a reasonable issue that needs tending too I have local contacts that can help me out. Old Forge Village is well know for the water safari however, you can rent a boat, kayaks paddle boards or a canoe. Tour boat rides also leave from the docks close by. Mountain biking and hiking trails are also nearby with the popular scenic chair lift ride. Don’t worry about parking. The great thing about this home is the fact that it’s two houses away from Main Street. You can literally walk or take one of our 6 bicycles virtually anywhere within 10 minutes. -3 night minimum for summer weekends. -2 nights minimum Mon - Thursday. -Discounts for 7 nights or longer. -Linens, pillows and some essential items are included. PETS!! A common question I get is regarding pets and if they are allowed or not so here’s the scoop. Trained and well behaved animals are welcome. The yard / property is not fenced in with full time neighbors being on both sides. Also there is a main road nearby that can get quite busy on the weekends. If you have a dog that tends to “run off” I would not recommend bringing it. Pretty much all the furniture is new in the home and I’d like to keep it that way. If your pet is spiteful, chews things, pees on furniture or cannot be 100% trusted please consider other arrangements. We are animal people so I understand wanting to have your furry friend along with you on vacation but be reasonable. Lastly, TWO IS A CROWD!! I only allow 1 pet per group. A $250 pet cleaning fee is implemented with all pets. If you try to sneak another dog in you will be charged.
