950 sqft Cottage, Mtn & valley view. Secluded, not isolated; 5min to Bonners Ferry, 30min to Sandpoint. Full kit & bath. Dedicated WiFi. 3 beds upstairs: Qn, Full, Twin. Parking: 2-3 rigs. 1acre fenced +10acres wooded hiking on-property or drive to natl. park service trailheads/local lakes. Charcoal Grill, Picnic Tbl, Garden, Fire Pit. No parties, no pets. SUNDAY check-in: Need to book prior SAT (see details). WINTER GUESTS may need to shovel snow; shovels provided. Enjoy watching Deer walk the perimeter fence or the Wild Turkeys stroll by, while Bald Eagles may be seen soaring overhead. The property is secluded and quiet and peaceful, so you can leave your busy city-life behind for awhile. Enjoy the fire pit, weather permitting (unavailable during fire season, which varies based on weather). Fire Pit: BYO wood or purchase onsite wood at additional cost. NOTE: You can check IN on a SUNDAY, but you'll need to book the prior SATURDAY as well because our cleaning crew is not available to clean on Sundays, so we'll need to clean on SATURDAY before you arrive. We discount Sunday pricing for this reason. WINTER GUESTS: Snow shovels provided; you may need to shovel the front porch. It's part of Winter in North Idaho. If you're unable to shovel a little snow, then please don't book our property during Winter months as we are unable to shovel for you during your stay. Thank you. You'll have dedicated parking that is just for you, along with your own yard space, and picnic table and charcoal grill that are yours to use. In addition, there is a shared fire pit, and seasonal garden from which you're welcome to sample any ripe fruits or vegetables. In addition, there are 10 wooded acres on the property that you can explore. We also offer the Quail House for vacation rentals, which is the main home on the property. If you have a larger group, you may want to consider the Quail House, or both homes together ("Quail Ridge") for even larger groups. You'll have dedicated parking and your own yard space. Charcoal BBQ grill, BYO charcoal. There is a shared fire pit and seasonal garden - help yourself to any ripe fruits. And there are 10 wooded acres on the property that you can explore. Garbage: There is no garbage service at the property. Garbage is hauled to the Landfill approx. once a week, so you may find garbage in the garbage cans upon your arrival. There is also no recycling, so please crush cans, flatten cardboard, flatten milk/plastic jugs, etc., to minimize garbage volume. Thank you. Quail Cottage is located on a quiet, dead-end street in a somewhat rural area of Bonners Ferry, situated on a "rim lot" overlooking the Kootenai Valley, with lovely views of the Selkirk Mountains to the west. "Ski-in / Ski-out" applies to Cross Country skiing. While our property feels very secluded, Bonners Ferry is just 5 minutes down the hill, so if you forgot something at the grocery store, it's a quick trip to town and back. The Kootenai Wildlife Refuge is just 15-20 minutes away, and national forests, hiking, waterfalls, lakes, and the Kootenai River are all nice day excursions. After enjoying the great outdoors during the day, visit some of the local restaurants for dinner, or try your hand at the local casino. WINTER BOOKINGS: Bonners Ferry can experience light to heavy amounts of snow from late September through March, with the occasional fluke snow before/after these dates! People come to Bonners to enjoy the winter wonderland. So please plan for snow - clothing and vehicle, and pack your winter emergency kit in your vehicle, just in case. The City/County plow snow on the main roads in town, and the paved roads leading to the Quail property. The last 1000 feet is a private gravel road shared by about 8-9 neighbor properties. The gravel road is plowed by our wonderful neighbors. Driving slowly on the gravel road is imperative, to preserve the road and prevent potholes. Our property is inside a fenced 1-acre (in addition to our forested 10 acres), and we do not plow or blow the snow inside the fence. So if there is much snow, you'll probably need to shovel the driveway. We ask that you shovel it off to the side so it doesn't pile up and block the driveway for the next guests. If you're booking a stay during potential snow season: Please monitor weather forecasts for *severe* weather, and plan groceries and parking accordingly. You may want to park out on the main road and walk to the Cottage if it's going to snow a lot and you need to drive somewhere. Or stay home, watch movies, read a book, or do puzzles and enjoy the Winter beauty! Vehicles: AWD, 4WD, front wheel drive vehicles, good winter tires, etc. are all helpful in the winter. Bring your slippers and pajamas, and settle in and relax! We're sorry, but we do not offer refunds for last-minute weather events. Bonners Ferry is a 4-season paradise, and people come to the area in the winter specifically for skiing, hunting, winter hiking, holidays, etc. So we are unable to offer refunds at the last minute because we likely could have re-booked the dates with more advance notice. WINTER GUESTS: Snow shovels provided for you to shovel front porch. We have a snow plow contracted to clear the driveway.
