Property Access/ Door Locks: The cabin has a smart lock system which doesnt require any keys. To open the door, touch the Home icon on the bottom left side of the key pad. Touch the access combination of 6124 one at a time. When the combination is completed, the deadbolt will automatically open. To lock the deadbolt when exiting the home, simply touch the lock icon on the bottom right of the key pad. The deadbolt will automatically lock the door. Make sure the door is completely shut so the deadbolt can rotate without interference. The keys will also work in the deadbolt. In case the smart lock doesnt function, the key for the door to the house is in the lock box mounted to the facing of the porch located to the left of the front entry stairs outside. To open the box use the combination 3170. Only the dead bolt will be locked. Please put the keys back in the box and lock the box at checkout. Thermostats:There are two thermostats on the main level of the house in the hallway by the kitchen. The thermostat for the house is Honeywell electronic, located on the right of the two thermostats. We suggest turning the fan to the auto position during your entire stay. In the summer set the desired temperature for the AC. In the winter set the temperature for the heat. Please use the furnace as primary heat for the house. Upon departure in the summer please turn the system to OFF Upon departure in the winter please turn the thermostat to 55 degrees and turn the furnace fan (at the thermostat) to Automatic. The thermostat on the left controls the operation of the gas fireplace on the main level. Set the desired temperature level and switch to HEAT to turn on fireplace. Flames will be present until desired temperature is reached. The fireplace should only be used as supplemental heat for ambience. Upon departure, please turn to the OFF position to turn off the fireplace. There is another thermostat in the lower level located in the hallway by the wet bar. The thermostat controls the operation of the gas fireplace on the lower level. Set the desired temperature level and switch to HEAT to turn on the fireplace. Flames will be present until desired temperature is reached. Upon departure, please turn to the OFF position to turn off the fireplace. Private Pier and Wind:Lac Courte Oreilles is a large lake and can get very windy during storms. Be sure to secure your boat properly to avoid damage to the boat or dock. We are not responsible for any damage to the boat. If you do decide to tie up your boat to the dock please be sure to bring large bumpers to protect both your boat and our dock. Damage to the dock from boats that have not been properly secured are also the responsibility of the tenant. Again, we only mention this because it can get really windy. Sliding Patio Doors:The sliding patio doors have a lock at the top of the door in addition to the lock on the handle of the door. Press the button at the top in addition to lifting the lock lever at the handle to unlock the door. Additionally, the sliding patio doors in the lower level also have a wood bar in the track that needs to be removed in order to open the sliding door. As you leave and/or if wishing to lock the doors for sleeping etc. please ensure both locks on both patio doors are locked. There is a wastebasket to collect garbage from the lower level patio just inside the sliding patio door near the seating area. It's important to bring any trash with food, beverages that wild animals might smell inside or dispose of as indicated under the Trash, Garbage and Recycling section as you vacate the patio area for the evening. Gas Grill: There is a gas grill onsite as well as propane for the grill. Please be sure to clean up the grill with the supplied wire brush when done using it. Grill utensils are located in the deck box next to the grill along with a spare propane tank. If the grill is left dirty there may be a $50 charge for clean up. Outdoor Furniture:Because of the beautiful trees on our property, debris often falls daily on the outdoor furniture. The cushions have sunbrella fabric designed to dry quickly. There are whisk brooms to assist in removing dry debris from the cushions on the main and lower levels. On the main level the red whisk broom and dustpan are on the shelf in the coat closet, on the lower level they are under the bar sink next to the wastebasket. The cushions have sunbrella fabric designed to dry quickly. If there is a heavy rain, it helps to stand the cushions on end to help them dry more quickly. The brown lightweight adirondack chairs stacked in the corner under the deck are for your use around the fire pit. Please return before you leave and/or if there is inclement weather. There are long skewers for roasting marshmallows in a tin canister in the lower level on the ledge as you go out the patio doors. Feel free to use them to make the best s'mores ever! Please return them to the canister clean before you leave for others to enjoy. Umbrella:The umbrella for the table on the patio is stored in the utility room. Please return before you leave and/or if there is inclement weather Televisions:We have satellite service for our televisions. If it does not work, the signal may be interrupted by heavy rain. If that is the problem, you should be able to get reception again after the rain stops. Heavy snow on the dish will also stop it from working. Use the DirectTV remote control to operate and power on the televisions and set top box. There is a DVD player in the lower level sitting area in the media stand. Feel free to use any of the movie DVDs in the drawers of the media stand. Snowmobile Lake Access Instructions For your safety and to protect the property, please only use the designated snowmobile access ramp to reach the lake. The ramp is located on the north (right-hand) side of the property when looking out toward the lake from the cabin. This area is marked with snow stakes and offers the lowest and safest elevation to access the lake. Do not attempt to access the lake from the center or left side of the property, where there are large boulders, stone steps, and a lakeshore rock wall. Several snowmobiles have been damaged in previous seasons due to these hazards. In addition, running snowmobiles across landscaped areas has caused costly damage to the property.
