The Silver Spur Cabin celebrates the Wild West Era. According to legend, many notorious outlaws passed through our area. Belle Starr and Jesse James were said to have used the area to hide treasure and evade the law. Rumor is the hidden treasure from these bands of outlaws is still waiting to be discovered. Neslted at the foothills of the mountains, The Lazy Buffalo has 11 themed cabins. The Silver Spur Cabin sleeps 4 with two queen sized beds and a full bathroom with walk in tiled shower. Barn wood, knotty pine, and corrugated tin are used throughout the spacious cabin. Dark stained concrete floors and tin ceilings really add a rustic yet elegant vibe. The kitchenette area has a mini fridge and microwave along with table and chairs. Sip on a cup of coffee from the front porch or have a picnic in our outdoor pavilion area complete with charcoal Grill. When it gets dark, roast marshmallows at the outdoor fire pit or relax under the stars in the back of our vintage star gazing truck, located just a short walk from the cabin. Both kids and adults will love tossing horseshoes and playing old fashion board games from the front porch. Toss Frisbees at the new disc golf stations , drop giant checkers to make a Connect 4, or make music at our interactive Music Wall. Don't forget to snap some forever memories at our themed photo ops. Located on a state highway yet still nestled along the foothills of the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, we are just a half mile from the original Quanah Parker’s Star House, 3 miles to the Wildlife refuge entrance, and minutes from Lawton Fort Sill and historic Medicine Park, there's plenty to see and do nearby. The Wildlife Refuge preserves 59,000 acres of mixed prairie grass, ancient mountains, lakes, and streams. Herds of bison, longhorn, and elk can be seen roaming free and there's endless recreations opportunities such as fishing, bird watching, mountain biking, hiking, rock climbing, and kayaking. The Silver Spur Cabin will be your own private space including the beds and bathroom. The long covered porch is shared with the other guests of The Lazy Buffalo along with the parking lot, outdoor areas, and our 24 hour guest laundry room. We live just up the driveway and are available should you need anything during your stay. The Lazy Buffalo offers a self check in. Your cabin has a keypad entry. This code along with check in details will be sent through airbnb on the afternoon of your arrival. You may make yourself at home anytime after 4pm. For those that like to hit the slots, the Comanche Cache Casino is now open and just across the street from the Cabins. For those history enthusiasts, Quanah Parker’s Star House is nearby. The two story home is known for its distinctive wraparound porch with large white stars adoring the roof. Many tales of the famous outlaws Belle Starr and Jesse James were rumored to have roamed our area. Will you be the one to find their hidden loot? WICHITA MOUNTAINS WILDLIFE REFUGE – 3 miles The Wildlife refuge spans 59000 acres and home to free range buffalo, longhorn cattle, and other species. Stop at the Visitor Center for a wealth of information on all the Refuge attractions including the Holy City, Quanah Parker Lake, parallel forest, forty-foot hole, and Charon’s garden trail. MEERS & MEDICINE PARK – less than 15 miles Take a scenic drive to Meers a town known for its gold rush days. America’s cobblestone community, Medicine Park, is just past Mount Scott. LAWTON - 10 to 20 minutes Lawton is a bigger city and has activities such as casinos, iMax Movie Theater, shopping, and restaurants. Walmart, Academy, and Target are a short drive up the highway. FORT SILL – 20 minutes Fort Sill is the last remaining active military post that was built during the Indian war and is home to the US Army's Field Artillery. The prominent Native American leader of the Chiricahua Apache, Geronimo, is buried at the Fort Sill Cemetery. We have lived in Southwest Oklahoma for over 60 years. We love our hometown and hope you make lots of memories during your stay. We are located at the intersection of two highways, so there's quick access to Lawton Fort Sill going East, our hometown of Cache downtown area is South, or just 3 miles North is the entrance to the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. We are a rural area so there is no public transportation. We do have lots of fun trails and paths for walking, cycling, and driving. * The Wichita Mountains has miles and miles of hiking trails. * Cyclists love having their own lane that runs by our property and goes throughout the mountains. * The Cache Park has a paved walking trail. CLEANING: The cleaning fee is to get the cabin ready for the next guest. Your cabin will be cleaned and ready for your arrival. We do not provide daily cleaning services but can bring you fresh linens upon request. WORKSPACE: We do have free Wifi in the Cabins. While there is not a traditional work desk with office chair, there is a table and chairs that can be used to work from. BEDDING: The comforter sets may differ from the one shown in the photos. We have multiple sets per Cabin.
