El Viejo Adobe - Across from Sul Ross campus
This el viejo (old adobe) sits directly across the street from the beautiful Sul Ross State University campus and just a few blocks from downtown Alpine. This is a great basecamp while exploring all that Alpine and Big Bend have to offer. Marfa and Fort Davis are short drives away with beautiful scenery in between. This location is not suitable for children under 12. The space This old adobe sits on land, once part of the W.B.Hancock Ranch which was located just East of the original townsite of Alpine, Texas. After decades of witnessing cowboy and ranch life, this quiet old adobe was on land to be annexed into the town, after Mr. Hancock gave 100 acres for the establishment of Sul Ross State College on “Hancock Hill”. Located across the street from the beautiful campus of Sul Ross State Univ. (and the Museum of the Big Bend), this old adobe guest house is easily accessible to downtown and restaurants. Only thirty minutes from Ft. Davis, or Marfa, or Marathon, and only an hour and a half hours from the Big Bend National Park, this is a great place to stay! The living room has a small sofa and two sitting chairs. It has a tv with an Amazon Fire stick to login into your own entertainment apps. (Netflix etc.) Remember to logout before checking out! Guest access Guests may park in the parking lot to the south of the property and access the front porch and side patio. Other things to note The north facing porch has been converted into a second bedroom and does not have venting for ac/heating. However it is an adobe house with tile floors and the additional bedroom stays pretty close to the temperature of the main house. A fan and heater are provided for your comfort.
