AWARD WINNING STUNNING SECLUDED RURAL LOCATION-GROUND FLOOR BEDROOM-LOG BURNING STOVE-NO CLEANING FEES You will find it hard to find anywhere else as peaceful & secluded as Ford Wetley Cottage in the Peak District, a beautifully luxurious appointed converted dairy. This unique space is secluded & surrounded by fields, trees, streams, waterfalls, woodland. Peaceful & relaxing, log burning stove, outdoor BBQ & river view decking and beautifully cabin 2 acre field for dogs to explore.EV charging The space Chosen as one of the 'Top 50 Places to stay for Christmas' in the ‘National Guardian Newspaper’ in September 2016, awards for ‘Best Self Catering’ in Staffordshire 2 years running, Ford Wetley Cottage offers you peace and tranquility amongst the beauty of the hamlet of Ford. Secluded and peaceful in one of England's most scenic beauty spots, our cottage is set at the end of a dead end lane 5 minute walk from a historic Quaker Hamlet of Ford with a picturesque river running through and old pretty Quaker farm houses with their mullion windows from the 16th century. Guests often comment on the feeling of space, tranquility, seclusion and beauty of Ford Wetley Cottage with stunning views across the countryside, however within 6 miles there are the market towns of Leek, Ashbourne and Alton Towers theme park. There is also the fantastic Peak Wildlife park, Farmhouse cafe/shop and award winning Indian Restaurant all within 2 miles. There are 3 luxurious stunning beamed en-suite bedrooms, all with a shower, toilet and one also has a bath. Beds are extremely comfy with additional toppers. There is one room downstairs on the ground floor with a King size comfy bed, for those less able with stairs and an attached shower room, flat access from the front door. An upstairs double room with a bathroom and a full size pull out single bed for a child and a cot is available too and also a family room with a double bed and a full size single bed. Luxurious Molton Brown handsoap and moisturiser are supplied in all of the bathrooms as well as bath and hand towels for each person. The newly appointed rustic farmhouse kitchen is well equipped with everything you could possibly need, including kitchen roll, T-Towels, oil, salt, pepper, tea, coffee and sugar with a farmhouse wooden table to sit around, (comfy for 6, although 8 can fit if required) dishwasher and washing machine for your use, all tablets and powder supplied. The stunning oak floored, exposed stone lounge is well equipped with two large leather sofas, Flat Screen Smart TV with Netflix and other on demand services, Juke box Hi FI, an extensive range of books, games, toys and plenty of DVDs and a lovely cosy log burning stove. Perfect to curl up in front of and enjoy a well earned drink. We have Superfast fibre broadband with a speed of 80 mg, perfect if you need to stay in touch or work from the cottage. There is a private fenced in garden with a large wooden decking area overlooking the stream, the ‘hive’ is a wooden cabin with luxurious cushions and throws to escape, paint, read or listen to bird song. The large doors can be pinned wide for the view, or closed and heater for the cooler nights, the trees are flood lit. There is a table and chairs for 8 people, a BBQ, and a fire pit. Why not HIRE A HOT TUB for your stay, we have a supplier who will bring one in for you for £250 for the weekend. This is the inflatable type and will be supplied, disinfected and filled with fresh water, therefore this takes 24 hours to heat up from installation. There is an EV Fast Charger for your use, please bring your own lead specific to your venhicle. You will need to download an app and pay by card. There is a large hilly field where kids can play, supervised, making dens or catching cray fish in the stream. A fire pit to roast marshmallows. This is sometime home to our Miniature Shetland Ponies Breeze and Storm, or they may be in adjoining fields where you can take a short walk to see the friendly pair. There are pretty babbling streams and little waterfalls to explore in the field and have all to yourself. Great for dogs to explore for a sniff. There is plenty of safe off road car parking for 5 cars. You can walk straight from the cottage around the Picturesque former 'Quaker' village of Ford, across the fields to the new Country Kitchen farm shop and cafe (30 mins walk uphill) or a muddy field walk to the Jervis Arms pub for a delicious dinner or bowl of chips by the pretty Hamps river, which you can follow all the way back. We are mostly here to welcome guests in and then leave people to enjoy their stay. We are generally around to help and advise you, however when we are away, we are contactable by phone and email. Great Sightings of birds and wildlife are to be seen; especially the swallows of Spring, birds of prey, owls calling at night and for the 'early bird' maybe a fox or badger. Ford Wetley Cottage is a lovely peaceful environment, stunning walks from the cottage or near by in the Manifold Valley, Dovedale Valley, The Roaches etc. A car is essential to get around. The nearest train station is Derby or Stoke. 30/40 minute drive. You will be welcomed with a 'welcome hamper' of a bottle of juice, milk, free range eggs, a selection of jams and some nibbles. There will be a basket of logs for you and you can purchase extra for £10 per basket if you wish or bring your own. All freshly laundered bedding and towels are included to make your stay more comfortable. There is a tap outside to wash off muddy dogs, as we don’t allow them in the showers. Guest access The cottage has a private garden, largely fenced in, small dogs could find some gaps, a large off street parking courtyard for 5 cars. Access to our field to explore the streams and waterfalls. Beyond that is farmers fields. The cottage drive is at the end of a dead end lane so really safe for children and dogs. Perfect for dogs as you can walk for miles without seeing anyone or another dog. Other things to note This cottage is for those who like peace and quiet, natural beautiful surroundings, those who appreciate the stunning Peak District countryside and enjoy exploring. There is super fast fibre Wifi in the cottage but for mobile signal you have to walk into the field as we are surrounded by hills. Your mobile may work over WiFi if you have that option selected on your phone. We have a hot tub supplier who can bring one in for an extra cost. Please enquire for price. The main shops are a 6 mile drive and although you can walk to a local pub and farm shop and cafe, it is a muddy welly walk across fields and up hills. Those who visit Ford Wetley go away with a feeling of peace and tranquility. Children and dogs love exploring the countryside and groups enjoy sitting outside in the heated cabin, on the decking overlooking the stream or by the BBQ in the long Summer evenings and cooking up the local produce and then finding some wood to stoke up the fire pit to keep warm. If this sounds like the sort of holiday that you are looking for, please contact us to book. We can make suggestions for your stay if you wish as we are at the heart of the stunning Peak District attractions as well as the beauty and diversity of North Staffordshire and the Potteries. We don’t charge you extra for heating, electricity or the use of bedding and towels etc and we even give you a basket of logs for the stove. The only little ‘extras’ are if you require more logs for the stove and if you are bringing a dog. Up to 3 well behaved dogs are welcome on prior arrangement only at a fee of £30 or £40 for 2 or £50 for 3 dogs. (No puppies under 12 months). Although we welcome dogs, we have some rules to keep the cottage to our high standard and not smelling doggy. We have a very very rarely used footpath running along the lane so no dogs with a ‘bite risk’ suitable. Also, please note that dogs are not allowed to be left alone in the cottage at any time (unless locked in a crate with water) and must be kept downstairs and out of the bedrooms, only allowed on the sofas on owners throws (not ours). There are generally sheep and lambs in the surrounding fields so dogs must not be allowed to chase them and kept on a lead in farmers fields but we have a large field in front of the cottage where dogs can be exercised off lead. The cottage has working Smoke Alarms and CO Carbon Monoxide alarms too for your safety. PLEASE NOTE that we DO NOT accept third party bookings, for instance bookings from companies, charities or organisations on behalf of other people or bringing groups of young people. No groups under 25 years old.
