Swift Cottage, Tideswell (Dog Friendly)

Swift Cottage sleeps up to 5 in 3 bedrooms: one King, one Double & a Single. One of four terraced former quarrymen's dwellings dating back to the early 1800s, the cottage is located in a peaceful location on the edge of Tideswell, within a few minutes' walk from the vibrant village centre. The modern bathroom has a whirlpool bath, separate shower & underfloor heating. Downstairs is modern kitchen & cosy sitting room with sofas, beanbag and logburner, as well as a single bedroom. The space Swift Cottage has been locally run by myself as a successful holiday rental since 2010, popular with families, groups of friends & couples. We have many Excellent reviews on other sites. Airbnb bookings accepted for stays of 7 - 14 nights with a changeover day of Friday. Located in the Townhead area of the village of Tideswell it benefits from tranquillity while being just a short walk from the bustling village centre with its pubs, shops & cafés. Tideswell, famous for its "Cathedral of the Peak", the large Church of St. John the Baptist (which dates back to the 14th Century), is a classic White Peak Derbyshire village with buildings built of local limestone. It is ideally situated for exploring the Peak District National Park with its varied outdoor activities from walking & cycling to caving, climbing, fishing, horse riding & gliding. Conveniently close by are many visitor attractions including historic houses (Chatsworth, Bolsover Castle & Lyme Park & others), Alton Towers theme park, Peak Rail steam railway, wildlife parks & much more! 20 minutes drive away is the spa town of Buxton with its opera house, golf course, a variety of supermarkets & shops. An hour or so away are the metropolises of Manchester & Sheffield. All bedrooms have comfortable medium-firm pocket sprung mattresses, hotel-quality linen & towels. The modern kitchen/dining room has a Miele fan oven & gas hob, spacious fridge/freezer, microwave & a Bose Bluetooth speaker to connect to your phone for entertainment. Free WiFi is included. The sitting room has an LG 32" Smart TV, a Blu-Ray player & selection of popular DVDs, local guide books & popular games. A log burner is great for extra warmth when it’s cold! (An initial supply of logs and kindling is supplied in winter for full price stays of 7 nights or more only.) The cottage is tastefully decorated throughout with many paintings & photos by local artists. The spacious patio to the front is a sun trap & has some of the best views in Tideswell over the well-maintained garden to the opposite dale, outdoor seating & a barbecue in summer months. Main access is via a level footpath leading across the front of a holiday rental next door, as well as via a private footpath & steps through the garden & a private entrance and steps to the rear. A utility room with washing machine & spin dryer leads via the rear entrance up some steep steps to the rear patio & lockable stone shed with storage for up to 4 bicycles. The rear gate exits onto a track (which can be used for loading/unloading) to a free off-road car park (25m away) which serves the surrounding cottages. Up to 2 small- to medium-sized dogs are welcome (please do not allow dogs upstairs or in bedrooms). Guest access All parts are accessible to guests. The main shared access is via the level path that runs across the front of the neighbouring holiday rental. There is also a private path and steps through the front garden, and private steps leading onto the rear patio area and out to the car park. Other things to note Max occupancy is 5 (children and adults) plus one infant (up to 2 years - travel cot and high chair provided). Up to 2 small- to medium-sized dogs are welcome (please advise the owner in advance). In High Season, May - September, we offer 7 night minimum bookings. Our changeover day is Friday.
