Description

Tremorna is an ancient fisherman's cottage with stunning views out to sea and its own 'secret' garden, perched above Helford Creek with private access to the beach via its own quay. This is the perfect location for paddle boarding, boating and swimming in the Helford River, Cornwall's most beautiful and unspoilt estuary. The cottage has a peaceful atmosphere, yet is just 50 metres from the village shop and less than 100 metres from the village pub, serving hot meals and good Cornish beer. The space Welcome to a delightful, spacious cottage of great character. The house offers wonderful views down a beautiful and undeveloped estuary and has an atmosphere of great calm and quiet. It has a large, light kitchen, two bathroom/shower rooms, and three lovely bedrooms. The jewel in its crown is its secret garden, which has to be seen to be believed. The garden's terrace is perched 20 metres above Helford Creek and has uninterrupted views out to sea - a spectacle of never ending interest. Steps take you down to a private quay and from there to the beach itself – the perfect place to launch a paddle board or kayak for a morning spent exploring the estuary. We provide a sit-on kayak for our guests to use – so it really is easy to get on the water and start discovering the wooded creeks and little quiet coves and the amazing variety of sea life within this pristine natural environment. The cottage has three double bedrooms. One has a double bed, the middle bedroom has two cosy bunk beds, and the third bedroom is another large double with two single beds that can be linked into a double. All three rooms have views down the estuary. There is an upstairs bathroom as well as shower room / toilet downstairs. Down the wooden circular stairs you'll find a large, light-filled kitchen with underfloor heating. It contains a long wooden dining table, oven and fridge/freezer, and has double doors that open to a small terrace with table and chairs and fantastic views down the estuary. The kitchen leads to a utility room with storage for coats and boots plus washer/dryer, and a shower room and toilet. The spacious sitting room has a glorious open fire and thick cob walls. Tremorna has been our family holiday home for over 50 years, since our parents bought it. We came here on holiday as children, and our children have come here on holidays all their lives. We welcome guests who appreciate a cottage of great character in a spectacular and totally unspoilt location, with access to one of Europe's most ecologically rich and beautiful estuaries. - Sleeps 6 in one double and two twin bedrooms (one of which has beds which can be linked into a double). - 2 bathroom/shower rooms. - Beds are made up with 100% cotton bed linen for guests' arrival. - Large drum washing machine/dryer, smart TV, wifi and microwave. - Off-lane parking for one car. - Large lawned garden with stunning terrace, table and chairs with uninterrupted views down the beautiful estuary, trees and steps to quay and beach. - Large kitchen with wooden table seating 8 comfortably, plus spacious sitting room with open fire. - Used by current owners, children and grandchildren as holiday home for more than 50 years. Tremorna is superbly placed for boating, swimming, sailing, paddleboarding and walking around the Helford River. It is in perhaps the most desirable location in the whole of the village of Helford. Guest access Our guests can access the whole cottage and garden. Other things to note The main garden is across the tiny single lane road that runs past the front of the cottage. You reach the garden by stepping out of the gate at the front of the cottage, going left about three metres, and then going through a gate on the right into the garden, which is hidden and not overlooked from the road. The road itself is access only during the summer months, and day visitors have to park at the car park at the entrance to the village. This means very little traffic passes. Even though the main garden is separated from the house by this tiny road, it feels very close.
