Cottage is very central to village centre but you can only hear birds and the church bells from the courtyard…….and relax! !!! Parts of this row of cottages date back to Medieval times. Parts of Bourton were a Saxon settlement and mentioned in the Doomsday Book. Stunning location for your stay in the Cotswolds.Kindly note the owners do not live on site or in the village. Entire cottage. Comprises Lounge/kitchen and both bedrooms plus bathroom and courtyard to front plus one parking space directly in front of the cottage for guest use. (Only from check in time ) Please note the piece of lawn located to the rear of the cottage on the other side of the path is strictly not for guest use. Via phone or email at start and end or via other social apps as needed One of the most picturesque villages in the cotswolds. Rectory Lane (no through Road) is a lesser known gem in Bourton with some gorgeous cottages dotted along it. Part of this row of cottages date back to medieval times. The cottage is central to the town but when enjoying a glass of wine in the courtyard you can only hear birdsong. Check out the history of Captains Cabin via search engines to learn more. The cottage was previously owned by a Navy officer hence the name. The cottage next door used to be called Crows Nest as he owned both prior to change of hands. Bourton has many restaurants within walking distance such as the Rose Tree or Smiths (burger and cocktails) , Mousetrap Inn or The Croft, The Willow, The Duke of Wellington or The Manse. So many small shops in the town too or just have a picnic next to the river. A bus stop is at the end of the lane about 100 metres from the cottage. Number 801 bus takes you to Moreton in the Marsh plus surrounding villages. Hire bikes from Hartwells Hardware store which is a 3 minute walk near Londis in the village. Or hire cars from Moreton in the Marsh should you wish to adventure further afield. There are many walks locally. Our favourite is to follow the footpath at the back of the cottage to Lower Slaughter. Once there you can dawdle along the river whilst taking in the water mill and gorgeous rows of cottages. Tea rooms and shop in mill and try the Slaughters Inn for a drink and a bite to eat. Local horse riding available plus the car museum , model village and Birdland all within walking distance. Perfumery also in Bourton offers courses throughout the year. You will receive a separate link to tours for booking before your stay within the final information pack.
