The seafront promenade of Playa de Poniente has recently been restored and has received the award for Best New Global Design from the Chicago Museum of Architecture and Design. This new architecture is based on the waves of the sea, and features vibrant colours that give it harmony and a touch of modernity. From this new promenade began the stage that took place in Benidorm of the 2011 Vuelta a España cycling tour. Along it we can find families, elderly people, skateboarders… it is highly recommended for spending the afternoon and taking a walk. Unlike the one in Levante, the seafront promenade does not extend to the end of the beach. When this promenade ends, a much less visited part of the beach begins than the previous one. That is why this area is preferred by Benidorm residents, since it is more secluded. Nevertheless, Poniente Beach has a bus line that runs through it periodically, to facilitate access to it.
