Downtown 2 BR Victorian Beauty: Zola's Roost
Spacious third-floor 2 Bedroom in the heart of downtown Troy. Less than a block away from the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, the Takk House, and the Saturday Farmers Market. Short walk to RPI and most Troy restaurants and bars. Renovated Victorian with 2 queen beds, sauna, full kitchen, eight foot dining room table, a desk to work at, and a big sectional plus with Roku TV. This is a renovated and updated Victorian building. The apartment still has an old cast iron tub. It has great light, with large windows on both sides. Note that it is on the third floor and that it is right in the middle of the downtown business district. Bedrooms are small but still big enough for the queen sized beds and side tables. The entire apartment is yours... and laundry is on the second floor landing on the way up. One of the closets is used by the owner for his stuff - this is an owner occupied apartment most of the year. The neighborhood is a run down yet quaint Victorian city that is rapidly gentrifying. It is still a bit rough and gritty around the edges to the north and south of downtown, which means that at least for now it retains some degree of local culture. The building itself is an arts collective that has been here for about 20 years and hosted some interesting events over the years. Just a few of the artists still live in it and rumor has it you can get them to write, record, and send a freestyle rap to a friend for seven dollars. But... I'm pretty sure that's just a rumor. The only parking available is on the street, and that is metered at $1 per hour during the day from 8-5. You can park freely four blocks south. It is recommended that guests who need to park a car during the day on week days find a spot three blocks south, where residential parking is not metered. The good news is that we are right in the heart of downtown - you can walk to the bars, the music hall(s), EMPAC, RPI, and most of Troy's attractions. The main CDTA bus stops are all within two blocks. Look up CDTA on the web for route info. There is an RPI shuttle that goes up the hill, but thats for the RPI community only. This apartment is a three floor walk-up, no elevators. Please see the notes about parking below: we only have parking on the street so for long term options it is good to book spots in the city garages online on the city of troy parking website.
