Newly-renovated 4-bedroom Farmhouse in Normandy

Located on the grounds of Chateau de Courtomer in Normandy, our Farmhouse has been recently renovated to a high standard of comfort and relaxed good taste. This property has been a labor of love of many hands –our family, our staff, and local artisans. Great care has been taken to maintain the authentic, historical detail of the property. We hope you and your guests will enjoy the Farmhouse as much as we do! The space Large living room/fully-appointed kitchen with original fireplace and comfortable seating. All four bedrooms include an en-suite bathroom. One of the bedrooms is on the ground floor, with easy access to the outdoors. Towels, linens, and toiletries supplied; beds made up. Separate laundry room with washer, dryer, iron, ironing board. We have kept authentic details, restoring whenever possible, replicating old doors and hardware as necessary. Stonework has been restored using traditional masonry techniques. The floors are handmade “tommettes” and wood planks. In the attic, you can see the original hand-hewn beams that support the traditional slate roof. Guest access The Farmhouse has its own private entrance and driveway and is independent of the Chateau and other farm buildings. It looks out to an apple orchard, newly planted with heritage cider varieties. The patio is furnished with classic French metal furniture and parasols. Rear windows look onto the park of the Chateau and the Chateau itself. On the grounds of the Chateau is an intact 18th-century icehouse and a “lavoir,” or wash-house, fed by a spring. Next to the old stables is a rare, intact 17th-century Protestant Temple. Both the Chateau itself and the Temple are on the French national register of historic buildings. The property is also a working farm, raising Limousine cattle and cereals.
