Beautiful Sea View Villa. Pool, gym, padel/tennis
Beautiful Villa with Stunning Sea View. Two pools, floodlit tennis/padel, gym.
Description
Coco House is a beautifully designed villa with a unique, breathtaking sea view (plse see reviews). Situated within the private 60 acre Sugar Hill Resort you can enjoy landscaped gardens, the choice between the infinity or waterfall pool, tennis, padel courts, gym and the ease of having a club house with a well reviewed restaurant. Coco House is the perfect base for a holiday in Barbados, a lovely place to relax yet well placed for Barbados' most well known beaches and attractions. The space When we bought the house the architecture of the house and the view are what we fell in love with. The high vaulted ceilings, plantation shutters and use of local coral stone and marble make it aesthetically a real pleasure to be in and to look at. It's a bright and airy house. The wide balcony juts out and looks out over a 180 degree view of the Caribbean Sea and because you’re up, not directly on the beach, you really get a panoramic view of the ocean and beautiful sunsets (see reviews). We're lucky that there are no houses directly infront of the house so we have wonderful sunset and sea views. The other pluses for us are the fact that Sugar Hill offers the amenities of a hotel together with the freedom of being in your own space. So flood lit tennis and padel courts, a gym, restaurant, mini market and reception to book taxis etc are on your door step or a phone call away. Also, if you have children, the 24/7 security means we have always felt safe letting our children run off to tennis lessons or wander back from the pool. The beach, Alleyne's Bay is your local and well known for the beach bar Jujus and the glam Lone Star restaurant. It's a two minute drive down the hill to get there, there is a shuttle service to Holetown and the beach from Sugar Hill or if you feel more energetic it's a fifteen minute walk. We have a kayak with oars and roof straps and a surf board you're welcome to use. In the main house there are two air conditioned large bedrooms (with en suite marble bathrooms - a shower and bath in the main bathroom, a walk in marble floored shower ensuite to the second bedroom) with French doors that lead onto the terrace and the good sized plunge pool and private garden. The furniture in the house is a mix of Asian, dark wood and white furnishings. The cottage, a stone's throw from the house, has a double bed, marble bathroom with walk in shower and kitchenette (fridge, kettle, cafetiere ) with ceiling fan and air conditioning . The cottage is opened when more than four adults are staying. The second bedroom in the house can easily house three single beds or we can exchange two single beds for a king size bed. There are two pools - the waterfall pool, which is a one minute walk from the house and the clubhouse pool , an infinity pool, which has a great view of the West coast and is a 2 min walk away from the house. Next to the pool is the club restaurant – a huge plus to Sugar Hill. If you’re too tired to cook you can head there or they can sort out a takeaway for you. There is nothing nicer after a game of tennis or finishing yoga, sitting out at the bar at Sugar Hill or the balcony of Coco House , having a glass of rose and watching the sunset! There are four floodlit championship tennis courts in the grounds, a fully equipped gym and yoga/pilates classes at the clubhouse. As mentioned, being on the Sugar Hill estate means you have all the advantages of a hotel, without actually being in one. Sugar Hill is a 60 acre private estate with 24/7 security, which only really gets press when one of its higher profile owners is in town, apart from that it doesn’t self promote and it’s a very laid back place, with wonderful landscaped gardens. The gardeners keep if looking beautiful (lots of frangipani, coconut tress – if the trees infront of our house have ripe coconuts, the gardeners will happily cut some off for you for coconut water, we also planted a mango tree to the left of the house, you're welcome to pick them!). The staff are really helpful – the ladies at reception/concierge at the club house (again, a beautiful, large plantation style house made out of coral, marble and deep mahogany floors) will happily help you organise your holiday, whether it’s a question of booking taxis or restaurants. Sugar Hill is close to the hustle of Holetown (5 mins drive) and the shabby chic of Speightstown (10 mins drive). Holetown, apart from all the normal amenities you need, has the celeb hangout Second Street where you can party the night away and the state of the art Limegrove cinema and lifestyle mall for glitzy, duty-free shopping, cafes, good restaurants and a few bars which gets busy on a Friday night - Friday night is party night in Barbados. Speightstown has small, tucked away restaurants where you can watch classic black and white movies on the beach and enjoy a quiet more laid back evening, the Orange Street Grocer is one of our favourites for lunch. Fish markets are close by at Paynes Bay and Speightstown. We have put together a PDF that includes our recommendations for beaches, restaurants and things to do and places to visit on each coast. And if you have anything in particular you’d like to do and would like some advice, our property manager and I can help you . If you feel like some pampering and visiting a bit of Barbados old glamour, the grande dame, The Sandy Lane is a five to ten minute drive away. The Spa at the Sandy Lane is considered the best on the island (I've been there and it's a real treat!) and we also have a mobile massage company who can come to the house. Sandy Lane, Westmorland and Apes Hill golf courses are all near by . If you feel like visiting the other coasts, it’s a easy trip to the wilder, Atlantic side (you go over the highlands from Sugar Hill), it takes about fourty minutes to the surfer’s go to, Bathseba. Boogie boarding at The Crane is again, down the Highway, about 40 mins away. FYI all beaches are public in Barbados. I hope that gives you a flavour of the house and the area. There are a huge variety of things to do and places to visit, whether you’re a couple or family. If you'd like any further info, please feel free to email or message me. P.S Our house manager can organise a cook and baby-sitter if required. To ease you into your stay housekeeping will leave you with a three day starter supply of basics : dishwasher tablets/washing up liquid/bin bags/toilet roll etc. Salt, pepper and oil are there for your arrival and our property manager can also pre-stock the fridge prior to your arrival ( this is an extra charge ). We have a housekeeper who comes in once/twice per week depending on the number of guests staying at the house, if you would like further housekeeping or a washing or ironing service, this can be easily arranged with prior notice (an extra charge applies to added housekeeping days). Guest access As a guest at Sugar Hill you have access to all club facilities - gym, pools, tennis courts and restaurant, yoga, pilates and tennis classes happen weekly at the club house. We have a house manager who will make sure your stay at the house runs smoothly and our housekeeper who will clean the house for one day, once per week, during your stay. The cottage is opened automatically when more than four guests are staying, otherwise if you'd like the extra space the cottage can be opened for your stay for an extra charge of £30 per night. Other things to note If you would like a later check-out due to flight times, let us know and we'll see if it's possible (depending on the next guest's arrival date and any maintenance that needs to be done ) . If you’d like to stay until after 12.30pm it is possible to pay 50% of the nightly rate for an evening check out . If four or less guests would like to use the cottage there is an added cost of £30 per night for use of the cottage. The second bedroom is large enough to house three single beds - we did this for my children when my eldest was younger, or two of the single beds can be put together for one king size bed if requested. The Barbados Government has recently implemented a property tax on rental payments. This will be not be seen as an extra payment on your costings and is dealt with by us.
