This beautiful villa is on the expansive 4-mile longTambor Beach in Bahía Ballena (Whale Bay), located within the gated community of Los Delfines Golf and Country Club in Tambor, Costa Rica. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the whole front of the house (upstairs and down) offer incredible views of the unbelievable beach paradise outside. 3 bedrooms and an alcove w/ bed, each with ensuite bathroom. Great patio overlooking ocean and pool on the side shared with 7 other villas. Come live in paradise! Hello! We stayed at this beach house and it is so amazing that we bought it! (Luckily the owners had bought another gorgeous house and wanted to sell this one.) The villa is one of a kind in this gated community as it sits at the edge of a park, thus having more privacy than the rest of the development. (I especially like to hear and watch the howler monkeys in the trees in the park 25 ft from the front door. The other morning, we saw over 15 in those trees, some with babies hanging on to moms.) When we first walked into the house we were blown away by the view. I swear, it looks like a picture postcard, complete with palm trees, broad sandy beach and beautiful blue ocean. I'm pretty sure the gods photoshopped that view! There are air-conditioning units and large ceiling fans in every room. The downstairs has an open floor plan with a large dining/living area and a custom, well-appointed kitchen with teak wood cabinets, quartz countertops and brand new appliances. An alcove off the living room has a semi-private queen size day bed with its own full bathroom. The two sliding doors open to a patio with two tables with chairs and a wet bar all covered by a new bamboo palapa roof which, along with the surrounding palm trees, creates a perfect covered outdoor space, complete with a propane barbecue grill. A large hammock is waiting for you to lay down and read a book or take a nap. Up the curved staircase are the three bedrooms each with an en suite bathroom and again with the floor-to-ceiling windows! The master suite has a large balcony along two sides of the bedroom overlooking that fantastic view with new fans, a king-sized bed, and a large bathroom with ocean views from the shower. (I love to sit out there in the early mornings in the cool breeze, watch the scarlet macaws swoop by in pairs and just marvel at the view. I also love sleeping at night with all the doors and windows open listening to the ocean waves.) The other two en suite bedrooms also have walls of floor-to-ceiling glass. This villa sits on an expansive, 4-mile beach with nice soft black sand...easy to walk on, and a very gradual slope to the beach. (I counted them today...it's 75 steps to the water at high tide; 240 steps at low tide). It's not a great surfing beach since it's in a bay, but it's a fantastic swimming beach. However, the previous owner says she did manage to surf here sometimes. For your enjoyment, there is a surfboard and 3 boogie boards. I'm wanting to try paddleboarding in this bay on a very quiet day! Oh yes, and there's a nice pool just about 25 steps from the patio that we share with only eight other houses. (My new early morning routine is to run on the beach, play in the waves for a bit, have a dunk in the pool, and then have breakfast on my balcony. Did I mention the incredible view?) On-site amenities include golf, alfresco restaurant on the beach, grocery/convenience store, bank machine, pro shop, rentals, and guided tours. There are lots of places to go and things to do in the area. How about a boat tour to Tortuga Island to see the turtles, a visit to the Curú Wildlife Refuge, horseback riding on the beach from Montezuma to El Chorro, hiking to local waterfalls and swimming in their pools, experience a Montezuma canopy tour walking over a waterfall, or exploring the well-known surf towns of Montezuma and Santa Teresa for some great restaurants, shopping, and fun nightlife? And when you're done with the adventures and hustle and bustle, come home to the peace and quiet of your Tambor beach getaway. (I'm sure it can get busier, especially during Easter Week, but I've rarely seen more than 10 people on the whole 4-mile long beach at one time. More often than not, I'm the only one on the beach. It's like having your own personal beach and bay!) There’s a well-stocked convenience store at the clubhouse, a (slightly) bigger store in the town of Tambor just down the road, or a couple of bigger grocery store about 25 minutes away in Cóbano. If you don't want to cook, there's a charming open-air restaurant just a nice stroll across the park next to the house with great food and very friendly owners. And if that's not enough, the villa is also located just down the walkway within the community from one of Costa Rica’s nicest golf courses. Only about 3-4 hrs from San José, depending on traffic, across a ferry, or a 30 minute ride in a small prop plane to the beachside Tambor airport only 5 minutes away. Come make yourself at home at a true tropical paradise! (Can you tell I'm in love with this house?...and the view!! I must be dreaming!) As a guest you will have access to the whole house (with the exception of a couple of owner storage areas), the patio and furniture, grill, and hammock, the community pool 25 steps from the house, the lounge chairs dotted along the line of palm trees at the edge of the beach, and, of course, the whole 4-mile beach. You will be met by my manager, Sebastian, when you arrive. He is very knowledgeable about the area and can answer all your questions and give advice about local attractions, activities, and places to eat. If you need anything, give him a call. You can also contact me, but I'm probably in Wisconsin and he's right there and knows more than I do anyway! Tambor Beach is the quintessential beach complete with palm trees, large black sand beach, beautiful turquoise water with a mountain backdrop. You can often hear and see howler monkeys in the trees and macaws flying overhead. Today we had a visit from a large iguana! The gated community provides a safe, secure, and friendly environment. And outside those gates is a great place to explore with beach towns, each with their own character, wonderful restaurants, waterfalls and pools to explore, and scuba, snorkel, boat, and kayak tours to experience. There are three ways to get to Tambor. From San José, you can take a small prop plane (Sansa and others) to the airport that is just a couple of miles down the road, you can drive here, or you can take a bus. There is a bus stop right outside Los Delfines and there are buses that will take you to the main town of Cóbano and the beach towns of Tambor, Montezuma, and Santa Teresa, as well as other parts of Nicoya Peninsula and beyond. Most people rent a car or hire a driver to get around. (Some fly here and then rent a car here.) A 4-wheel drive is nice to have, especially in the "green" (read "wet") season, but you can get to most places without it.
