Taildragger Inn
Quiet neighborhoodhood in town at the foot of Mt. Marathon
The Taildragger Inn sits nestled at the base of the Mt. Marathon. This one bedroom apartment is ideally located within walking distance of downtown Seward and the boat harbor. Hiking trails are just around the corner, including the renowned "runner's trail" up Mt. Marathon. Although connected to the main house, the apartment uses a separate entrance and does not share space with the owners. The Taildragger is cozy and in a great location. You can feel at peace and enjoy peekaboo views of the beautiful surrounding mountains. My husband and I truly love the covered porch - it is a perfect place to sit outside in the evening when you just want to unwind but are not quite ready to call it a day! You have your own space inside as well as a covered porch that is yours. The yard is shared, but we will not "encroach" on you. Ronn and I will be in and out and generally available; however there will be times when we are out of town. We enjoy meeting new people, so will happily chat with guests when we are home and people want to interact. Because the apartment is attached to our home, noise does transmit and there will be times when you can hear people talking, dogs playing and other common household noises. We have created liberal quiet hours in recognition that our guests may need to rise early or want to stay out late - this allows them to not worry too much about how much noise they are making. Seward is a small town and generally easy to navigate. Many places are within walking distance of our home: downtown, the boat harbor, the Sealife Center, the beach, numerous restaurants, laundromat, coffee shops, gift shops and the post office. There are two grocery stores in town and they sit right next to each other - both are about a mile and a half away. There is a free shuttle that runs all summer moving people back and forth over a 2 mile distance. The shuttle can be accessed on 3rd Avenue, just two blocks away. Taxis are common place and seem to be our main mode of "public transportation". In addition, rental cars are available in town for those who arrive via cruise ship, train, bus or thumb. Ask about weekly and monthly rates during the winter! We are willing to consider 1 night bookings- send an inquiry if you are interested. We do not have guest laundry facilities, but there is a laundromat just 2 blocks away.
