Welcome to Doe-A-Deer Lodge in Jay NY ! Come and stay in this beautiful 6 bedroom 3 bathroom knotty pine home in the Adirondacks! After a day of exploring, come home to this peaceful retreat and relax in the amazing two-story great room with radiant floor heat below your feet! We have updated with brand new stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, tile floor, carpet, a large leather sectional, and a flat screen TV! We've got it all-WiFi, cable, games, and more! Private setting too! The home has 6 bedrooms (1 king, 4 queens, and a bunk room with 6 twins). Two bedrooms (one queen and the bunk room as well as one full bathroom ) are located on the lower level. The other four bedrooms, and two full bathrooms are on the upper level. We can sleep 16 people comfortably. Be sure to take advantage of the large tub in the master bath! We have tons of board games for fun family nights and even some toys for the little ones! In our community (Ausable Acres) you have access to hiking, snowshoe and /or Cross Country Ski Trails as well as two tennis courts, Lake Eaton (canoe or kayak only), and a large pavilion with cook out area. Take a scenic walk around the lake or just meander down the peaceful roads and enjoy the quiet of the Adirondacks! Review (Feb 2019) “We loved Doe-A-Deer! What a fantastic house! Since we had children participating in the Empire State Winter Games at Whiteface, it was the perfect location: a quick easy ride to the mountain. It's not far from Lake Placid, either. It was a beautiful drive into the village. We had a large group, with a mix of adults and a lot children, but it was more than a comfortable fit. The bunk room is such a sweet touch. The girls loved staying all together in one room!!! The house is beautifully updated, but still cozy and inviting. The radiant floor heating is amazing! Nothing like warm feet after a long day of skiing in the cold. We LOVED the fireplace, too. The kitchen has everything you could need to prepare meals, and there is enough room so that everyone can help with the cooking. :) I cannot say enough good things about this place! It is beautiful, spacious, comfortable, and clean. We will definitely come back to Doe-A-Deer next year for the Winter Games. The kids are already talking about it! (TBH, so are the adults.)” Review (Jan 2019) “The most memorable Christmas vacations at this Winter Wonderland!!! Our family of 10 had the best vacations at this amazing Cabin. We were received by the owners family and were toured thru the cabin and all its amenities, they waited until late afternoon that we arrived from our drive from NYC. The cabin is located in a great location, very quiet mountain neighborhood and very secure. Extremely clean and stylish place with everything we needed, its just the perfect vacation home! They even put up the Christmas tree for us! It was like a dream come true. For the week this was our base camp for all activities we had planned. Just a short drive to the town of Wilmington, where theres a couple of nice cozy restaurants and home of Whiteface Mountain (you must go on the gondola ride). Then at a 25 min drive you have Lake Placid, we went there 4-5 times during our stay. This is a must! Good restaurants, I would highly recommend the Big Mountain Creperie and Eres Pizza. The views of the frozen lake mirror are amazing! One day we even took a day trip to Stowe, VT. But everyday we came back to our base camp Doe-a-Deer, were we would all gather in the large sofa around the fireplace. They had tons of fire wood at our disposal. The kids would play board games from a huge amount that are provided. All the details were thought so that we would have the time of our lives! This living room is the MAIN attraction, with the fireplace and all glass windows overlooking to the woods. Sitting there and seeing the snow come down, was truly an experience we will never forget. All rooms were super clean, spacious and comfortable. The throws were amazing and always kept us warm. The heating system we didnt even touch as they had it set at a perfect temperature. Kitchen is very spacious and has all appliances you will need. I would recommend this cabin to anyone that would like to have a memorable vacation. These are the best hosts, tremendously helpful, and always checking in on us regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. Even after our departure they called to inform us we left some items behind. Would definitely stay here again. Id like to try in summer so we can go fishing in the nearby world-famous Au-Sable river. PS Look out for the deers, you can see them from the windows, every morning walking around in the woods.” You have access the the entire house and property. We are located in Ausable Acres development which has tennis courts, a small lake for canoes or kayaks (no swimming), kids play area, a barbecue area and pavillon. There's also access to fishing and walking/hiking trails. 15 minutes to Whiteface Mountain, Santas Workshop/North Pole, High Falls Gorge and Wilmington. 30 minutes to Lake Placid. In the summer months, the air conditioning system cools the main space (great room, dining room, and kitchen.) The bedrooms have ceiling fans if needed.... remember, adirondack nights are usually cool and you can open windows too!
