GETTING HERE / ROAD + SUV note: A heads-up that's also part of the magic: the last stretch is a private gravel road — not state-maintained, and not recommended for lower clearance cars. That climb is the whole reason the views up here are what they are. So we take the worry out of it and provide a free SUV for the last mile if you don't have an AWD or 4WD: leave your car safely below, ride up in something built for the road, and let the mountain do the rest.
