New, only open since June 2019. Just installed a brand new full house generator. In Grassy Meadows, WV, built on a little piece of property we added to the farm in 2014. Tucked in a small clearing at the top of the hill, you will enjoy the privacy, the mountain views, the wildlife, and the breezes that blow across the front porch! The cabin is two story, features 2 BR, 2 full BR with walk-in showers, full kitchen, dining, living, stackable washer and dryer, grill area, and small fire pit. The space We have used a lot of family "history" in the construction of this cabin! We used beams from an old barn that was on a neighboring farm, doors and an old kitchen sink that came out of my husbands grandparents house, lumber from a old chicken coop, pine boards that we sawed right here on the farm, and we even used some old poplar boards from an old farm house still standing on the property. Restored kitchen table with 4 non-matching chairs, LOL. We have hardwood floors throughout and tile in the bathrooms. Well stocked kitchen, all the necessary appliances and utensils needed to cook a full meal. Easy access, well maintained gravel road up through the woods, all wheel drive or 4x4 vehicles recommended in winter months when we have snow. Even then we can give you a ride up if necessary. Guest access The cabin is all yours for the duration of stay! The property is big enough that you can take off on a good hike or hang out close by the fire. The meadow behind the cabin is open enough to play ball or fly a kite. We had our first wedding in Sept. 2020, everything was beautiful! We were so appreciative of the respect to the cabin and property, that we are open to inquiries about small gatherings, birthday parties or weddings. Other things to note We are excited to team up with local chef, Jacob Owen, who has offered his culinary talents to amaze you in the kitchen while you are a guest at Sugar Camp! Chef Owen can have a meal waiting for you or cook right in front of you while you are relaxing on the coach! Wouldn't this be perfect for a special occasion meal or just fun to have someone else do the cooking while you are a guest! Any questions and pricing can only be answered by him. Expect some beautiful fall colors as we go into winter and some very common snow falls in January and February. Be knowledgeable and prepared for the changing seasons. We have had some snow falls this winter/2021 that have made it even impossible for us to get to the cabin in 4x4 truck. Last year, we didn't have enough snow to hinder us or guests at all. Imagine that! For January and February we recommend SUVs or 4X4 vehicles. Some guests have parked at the bottom of the driveway and walked up, and we have even given guests rides up, but we aren't available due to work schedule to be of much assistance after that! There is some local art in the cabin for sale. I have also displayed a couple quilts of my own that are for sale! Only to support my sewing habit! Lol
