Description
Welcome to our secluded Farmhouse on the Prairie! This house and the land surrounding it was homesteaded in the 1880's by our Danish ancestors. The house has been updated over the decades, and now has an eclectic feel, with items from our travels, antiques and midcentury pieces. Our cozy beds, fully outfitted kitchen, rec room basement and new deck will be sure to make you feel at home. The Kansas prairie boasts some of the prettiest sunsets and sunrises you could ask for! The space Our vintage styled family home is ready for you! With three memory foam topped queen beds, a classic kids room with three twins and three full bathrooms . . . you will have plenty of space, yet feel cozy for a family gathering, small reunion or country getaway. Our barn-wood basement has pool, foosball, and air hockey tables. Our plot of land is situated in the middle of working farmland, with some quintessential views of barns and silos. We have a 38" TV with Roku and wifi available, as well as a small library and DVD collection. Our kitchens fully outfitted with all the essentials you might need to prepare meals and enjoy your stay! Coffee maker, pots and pans, Keurig, Microwave oven and stove. We do not provide coffee or keurig pods, but our guests often leave behind non-perishables and condiments that everyone is welcome to use! Guest access When you’re at our place, the home and 1 acre around the property is free fee to use. There are outbuildings and farmland that is rented by our farmers, so that is not for our guests or kids to explore. Everyone loves the country road for long walks and sunset views. But do be aware that sometimes the bridge can get flooded out down the dirt roads and to be cautious where there might be farmers and neighbors conducting their farm work. Other things to note Again, this is a working 1200 acre farm all around you, so it’s good to know ahead of time that there are cows within smelling distance, a couple of friendly neighbor farm dogs that keep the cows safe and even coyotes howling in the distance. Many people love this experience! But it can be adjustment for folks who are not used to farm life. Also, our basement is quite rustic and very enjoyable to people who are looking to stay on a farm. It’s a bit dark and damp, and since the house is over 100 years old it’s hard to keep out little spiders and such. This is farm life! Our family only uses the basement as a rec room not as a sleeping space for this reason.
