Carefully restored 1850's lighthouse. Stunning interior opens onto an amazing four season sunroom and wraparound deck with panoramic Superior views. Steps away from miles of Lake Superior beach, ATV/snowmobile trails, top notch dining at the Fitz, and Eagle River Falls. Its central location makes exploring the Keweenaw in any direction scenic and simple. The space FYI: July-August rentals are weekly only, Saturday-Saturday. Click an available Saturday on the calendar and the week will light up. Eagle River Lighthouse is absolutely unique in its history and presentation. It was commissioned by the US Government to guide ships along Lake Superior's Keweenaw coast. Built in 1855 completely of red stone, it housed the light keeper and his family. The light was decommissioned in 1909 and the property sold into private ownership. Today its history is surrounded by tasteful modern amenities. The entire first floor opens onto the deck with views of Lake Superior and Eagle River. Lounge in the living room or the four season sunroom. The large gourmet kitchen comes fully equipped for enjoyable meal prep. Everything is included for a comfortable stay. All you need are groceries and a relaxed state of mind. Eagle River is a charming historic village on Lake Superior. Walk the beach, gaze at the stars, ride the ATV/snowmobile trails or simply unwind. Exploring the rest of the Keweenaw is easy. Within 30 minutes, you can be pedaling world class mountain bike trails in Copper Harbor, skiing double black diamonds at Mt. Bohemia, kayaking Bete Gris or hiking deep into the woods on trails for all experience levels. The house comes loaded with guides, books and suggestions on all there is to enjoy in the Keweenaw. Guest access Guests have a rare opportunity to enjoy a historic lighthouse as their own home! Please note that due to the age (built in 1850s) very small size and very tight access, the Lantern Room of the tower is not accessible to guests.
