Description
Streamside log cabin in the heart of the Pennsylvania Wilds, minutes from Cherry Springs State Park—one of the best stargazing spots in the U.S. Fall asleep to flowing water, gather by the fire pit, and watch the Milky Way overhead. Sleeps 6 with full kitchen, WiFi, and privacy. Near PA Grand Canyon, Kinzua Bridge, elk country & more. Dog-friendly. True dark skies. True escape. The space There’s something about falling asleep to the sound of a stream. Not a recording. Not a machine. A real mountain stream tumbling past your cabin window, the same way it has for generations. At A Cabin by the Stream, that’s your soundtrack. Water over stone. Wind through the trees. Fire crackling outside. And at night? A sky so full of stars it almost doesn’t look real. This is your own vintage, hand-built log cabin, crafted from mountain cherry trees and brought down winding deer trails to rest beside the water. It feels like stepping into another era — the kind of place your grandparents would have called “the camp.” Authentic logs. Honest wood. The scent of pine and mountain air when you open the door. But while the cabin feels timeless, you won’t be roughing it. The kitchen is fully equipped with a full-size oven, refrigerator, cookware, dishes — everything you need to cook a proper meal. We provide all bedding and towels. There’s cable TV and internet if you want it… though most guests find themselves forgetting their phones once the fire is going and the sky turns dark. The cabin sleeps up to six comfortably, making it perfect for couples, families, or a small group of friends who want to reconnect without distraction. The entire cabin and grounds are yours. No shared walls. No neighbors close by. Just you, the stream, and the forest. Outside, the streamside fire pit becomes the heart of the evening. Roast marshmallows. Grill dinner. Pour a glass of wine. Watch the flames reflect off the water. In the morning, sip coffee while mist rises from the stream and deer move quietly through the trees. And then there’s the sky. We’re just a short drive to Cherry Springs State Park, a Gold Level International Dark Sky Park and widely considered the best place to stargaze in the United States. On a clear night, the Milky Way stretches across the sky like a river of light. Meteor showers streak overhead. Satellites glide silently by. And if you’re lucky, you might even catch the Aurora Borealis dancing on the horizon. If you’d like a private guided star tour, we’re happy to share our recommendations for local astronomers. Want to spend the day in the saddle? Summit Trail Rides offers unforgettable horseback adventures. Prefer something quieter? Try Rainbow Paradise Trout Farm, or simply cast a line in your own stream. Day trips are easy from here: The breathtaking Pennsylvania Grand Canyon near Wellsboro The Kinzua Bridge Skywalk The historic Austin Dam The roaming Pennsylvania elk herd Bald eagles along the river valleys Charming small-town shops and diners in Coudersport and throughout Potter County This is the PA Wilds at its best — dark skies, wildlife, hiking trails, trout streams, and the kind of quiet you forgot existed. One important note: when choosing a cabin for Cherry Springs, location matters. Many listings advertise proximity but are more than an hour and a half away from the true dark skies. Here, you are in the heart of it — close enough to experience the magic without a long nighttime drive. Healthy, well-behaved pups are welcome (pet fee applies), because we know adventures are better when the whole family comes along. There’s no public transportation here — and that’s part of the charm. You’ll need a car. Once you arrive, though, you may not want to leave. Come to relax. Come to recharge. Come to remember what a night sky is supposed to look like. The stream is waiting. Guest access Thank you for booking and being our Guest!, Welcome to our Cabin rental for Cherry Springs Star Gazing.
