Lakefront Cottage near Loudonville Oct 16&17 open

Great views from the front porch/deck/yard. This is an ideal location minutes to Mohican State Forest/Loudonville/Amish destinations & much more. 10% discount for weekly stays. A NO smoking/NO vaping property inside & out. No pets policy. The space Reopens May 1, 2026. Two night minimum but three night minimum over holidays - Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day. Week long or even longer reservations are encouraged and discounted. FOUR GUESTS MAXIMUM. NO ADDITIONAL GUESTS ALLOWED during the day and at night. VERY IMPORTANT - SEE HOUSE RULES. This is a seasonal cottage in Holmes County 12 minutes from Loudonville and Mohican. Don't forget this would be the perfect place to stay if you're coming to Loudonville for the Free Street Fair that starts September 30 this year. Attend the fair during the day and enjoy a fire by the lake in the evening to unwind. Only 12 minutes away. We close it up November 1st and re-open it in late April. We have kept the charm of a lakefront cottage built in the 1930's. No additional guests during the day or night. Especially nice for one couple - very private, quiet, a truly unique location. It is not particularly suited for young children because of this being a lakefront property - that being said - if you do bring children, you have to bring your own lifejackets and we expect them to be used on the children at all times when near the water, but you need to let us know ahead of time. There's a small dock. There is no public boat ramp or access to the lake which really limits watercraft traffic. Even on weekends there's very little boat traffic. We have an area where you can push in YOUR OWN kayak, canoe or rowboat (we do not provide any type of watercraft) and the lake has a 9.9 hp limit. You may have to step down into your watercraft depending on the level of the lake. You are NOT permitted to swim or wade from our property. You can fish from the front yard or from your kayak or canoe. This property is tranquil, quiet, and relaxing. The lake offers good fishing and fantastic birdwatching. The fish include bass, crappie, bluegill, catfish, an occasional pike, carp and more. Birds you may see include osprey, bald eagles, lots of hummingbirds and woodpeckers, green herons and great blue herons, nuthatches, titmouse, cormorants, and so much more. There is a submerged island that you can pull up to and take a dip. Again, there is no swimming from the property. O'Dell's Lake is a natural glacial lake fed in part by artesian springs. There's a deck, patio and corkscrew willow tree next to the dock. All offer shade depending on the time of day. We supply a propane grill with propane, 40" HDTV with ROKU, DVD player, and we have free WIFI. You will find coffee, tea, bottled spring water, an assortment of herbs and spices, and some condiments (ketchup, mustards, etc). Depending on the time of year you may find an assortment of vegetables on your table from our garden. All windows have screens and are new in 2017. There's usually a nice breeze coming off the lake. A new 8,000 BTU a/c window unit and ceiling fan are in the living room which cools the kitchen and bedrooms also. High thread count sheet sets and a queen bed with 3" memory foam topper in one bedroom and one twin bed and one full (double) bed in the other. 5,000 BTU in bedroom with queen bed. We wash blankets and/or bedspreads after each guest. We do not provide a hairdryer. In case of rain the front porch is spacious, bright and airy. For weekly stays, inquire about reduced rates. I do expect my guests to do their own dishes and to tidy up after themselves before they check out. Sorry, but NO PETS are allowed. This is a non-smoking property so NO smoking anywhere on the property. No parties or gatherings; this is not a venue. We have a single neighbor to the right and a seasonal part time neighbor to the left; so quite quiet and private. We will continue to sanitize knobs, handles, hard surfaces, toilet, shower, TV remote, switches, etc. to ensure the utmost cleanliness. We also provide hand sanitizer for guests use. Guest access The entire cottage is yours to use, as well as the yard and grounds. You're welcome to walk through the gardens. We have several benches under a mature corkscrew willow tree right on the lake next to the dock which offers shade. You're welcome to feed the fish that hang out by the dock. We have fish food available. NO swimming or wading from our property. New, convenient gravel parking area right by the entrance door. New fire pit down by the water. For at least the beginning of the season, I will provide the lockbox code and check-in/check-out instructions so that we do not have to physically interact, but we are available by phone at any time. We're only 12 minutes away. Depending on the weather, you may see us early in the morning watering the garden; we won't bother you. Other things to note Here are some approximate driving minutes to Mohican State Park (15-20), Loudonville or Shreve (15), Pleasant Hill Lake (20-25), Brown's Bog (10). Amish country close by.
