The space Designed for two guests, MoJo Valley is a place to relax and reconnect. Start the morning with coffee and farm-fresh eggs from the chickens on our property before spending the afternoon exploring wineries or hiking through the Shawnee National Forest. At the end of your day, open a bottle of wine and settle in around the private fire pit as the woods become quiet for the evening. And because we are also the owners of Wichmann Vineyard, your stay includes a complimentary bottle of wine from our winery. We love sharing not only the cottage, but the place we call home. THE COTTAGE MoJo Valley Cottage is a comfortable, private one-bedroom cottage designed specifically for couples and individual travelers looking for a peaceful getaway. The cottage includes: • Queen-size bed • Full bathroom • Fully equipped kitchen • Dining area • Comfortable living area • Air conditioning • Private outdoor space • Private fire pit • Outdoor seating • Dedicated parking The kitchen allows you to prepare a full meal or simply make breakfast before heading out for the day. We also provide a few basic breakfast and pantry items to help you get settled. A LITTLE SOMETHING EXTRA One of our favorite parts of hosting is sharing the little things that make MoJo Valley feel different from an ordinary vacation rental. In addition to the fresh eggs come from our chickens here on the property, guests are welcome to visit our small pond, and receive a complimentary bottle of wine from Wichmann Vineyard. If you'd like to visit the winery during your stay, you're more than welcome to stop by, meet us, and experience a little of what we do. YOUR OWN PLACE TO UNWIND The cottage is completely private, giving you your own space to relax during your stay. Outside, you'll find a private fire pit with seating. Firewood is provided, so when evening arrives all you need to do is light the fire, pour a glass of wine, and enjoy your surroundings. There is something particularly peaceful about sitting around the fire at MoJo Valley after dark. No traffic. No city noise. Just the woods, the fire, and the occasional sounds of nature. UNPLUG FOR A WHILE MoJo Valley Cottage intentionally does not have a television or Wi-Fi. We know that isn't for everyone—and that's okay. For the people who choose MoJo Valley, it's part of the experience. This is a place to put your phone down, open a bottle of wine, read a book, sit around the fire, or simply do nothing for a while. WINE COUNTRY AT YOUR DOORSTEP If wine is what brings you to southern Illinois, you're in the right place. MoJo Valley Cottage is located just minutes from the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail, home to a growing collection of locally owned wineries producing everything from dry reds and whites to native and hybrid varieties that reflect the unique character of southern Illinois. The nearest winery is just over a mile away, and several others are only a short drive from the cottage. And because we are local winery owners ourselves, we're happy to share recommendations and help you plan your wine-country adventure. Whether you're looking for a relaxed afternoon visiting two or three wineries, an entire day exploring the trail, or somewhere peaceful to return after your tasting adventures, MoJo Valley makes a great home base. EXPLORE THE SHAWNEE HILLS There's much more to southern Illinois than wine. The cottage is conveniently located for exploring the Shawnee National Forest, with hiking trails, overlooks, rock formations, lakes, and scenic roads throughout the region. Spend the day hiking at Garden of the Gods, exploring Giant City State Park, visiting local wineries, antiquing in nearby communities, or simply taking a drive through the hills. Then come back to MoJo Valley and leave the rest of the day unscheduled. LOCATION MoJo Valley Cottage is located near Cobden, Illinois in the heart of the Shawnee Hills. We recommend picking up groceries and other necessities before arriving if you plan to prepare meals at the cottage. A NOTE FROM YOUR HOSTS We're not a large vacation-rental company. We're local people who live and work here, and we genuinely enjoy sharing this part of southern Illinois with our guests. We own and operate Wichmann Vineyard, so wine is obviously a big part of our lives. But we also love the woods, hiking, cooking, gardening, the quiet evenings, and the slower pace that makes this part of Illinois special. When you stay at MoJo Valley, you're not just renting a place to sleep. You're experiencing a little piece of the Shawnee Hills—and we're happy to help you discover it. Guest access You'll have the cottage entirely to yourself during your stay, along with the private outdoor space and fire pit. Parking is available near the cottage. We live nearby and are available if you need anything, but we respect your privacy and wish to allow you to enjoy the cottage at your own pace.
