The space The Guesthouse, established in 1938, has a celebrated history. Today, the fully renovated flat Garden level offers guests all of the comforts of an elegant Southern home. The Brightwaters Guesthouse was originally built in 1938 as an 8 bedroom, 6 bathroom guesthouse. The founder, Samuel Childs, built the Brightwaters Guesthouse and Lodge and Dining Room, as well as 25 cottages on his 400 acres, in the surrounding area. The entire resort was called Brightwaters Estates, and was frequented by guests, primarily from Florida, looking to escape the summer heat and enjoy the cool, mountain air. On the grounds of the Guesthouse, Childs renovated an 1800's one-room schoolhouse to make it the dining hall for guests staying at the Guesthouse and the surrounding cottages. In the 1970's, the Guesthouse was renovated into 2 flats (one upstairs and one downstairs). Each flat had 2 bedrooms/2 baths, a living room, a dining and a kitchen. And the former, interior staircase was removed. Today, the Brightwaters Guesthouse takes back its original name and has been refreshed and restored to its former glory, exposing the refinished hardwood floors and tongue and groove paneling. The Brightwaters Guesthouse offer guests the opportunity to step back in time and enjoy its timeless elegance. The Brightwaters:Garden flat is a great house for getting away to enjoy the outdoors. Very close to all of the best mountain biking and hiking trails - DuPont, Pisgah, Bent Creek and Mills River. Accommodates a maximum of 4 people. Minutes to grocery and restaurants. Only 11 miles from the Asheville Airport. Other things to note Central A/C unit is enhanced with built-in germicidal ultraviolet (UV) light that greatly reduces allergens, mold, bacteria and viruses from the recirculating air. The Guesthouse is on a private, multi-home property. With 2 private flats (one downstairs:Garden level and one upstairs:Verandah level), the Guesthouse offers guests large, airy rooms and a touch of Southern elegance.
