Thayer Cabin: Quaint, Rustic, Quiet Retreat
Our cabin is on 8 acres and includes some peaceful spots along the Cold river. Great family or friends getaway or retreat. Enjoy the mountains year round with skiing, hiking, rock climbing, canoeing on the Saco river or relaxing in the comfortable surroundings. One bedroom downstairs with a queen bed; three beds upstairs in the finished dormer - 2 twin beds and 1 full/double bed. There is also a futon on the heated porch. The property is located in the White Mountains National Forest. Lots of activities in the area, yet a quiet, tranquil and serene place to hide away. Within a few miles of small town stores and restaurants, sporting goods stores and coffee shops. Others who have stayed have enjoyed climbing Mt Washington and just exploring the area. Quaint and rustic, it's perfect for a getaway or a week or long weekend with friends and/or family. The setting is extraordinary with a small river in the back of the property, plenty of places to sit and ponder, and hiking trails to explore. The White Mountains are amazing all year round. By staying in this property you will be assisting our organization Mountain Mentors as we continue to empower youth to make positive life choices. You will also find yourself in a beautiful, serene setting where you can relax and enjoy the outdoors year round. House manager lives nearby in case of emergencies of other needs Skiing, snowmobiling, hiking are all available in the area. Nearby Stow, ME only 15 minutes south of us is where you'll find the Cold River Cafe at Stow Corner Store, it has some items you may need to cook or they have a wonderful deli & grill. You can often times sit & chat with the locals about the area. There's many other quaint towns close by or you can go to the larger town of Conway. Travel by car or hike around the area. All is available and accessible. This property is owned and offered by Mountain Mentors (toledo(URL HIDDEN) a non-profit agency in Toledo, Ohio. Mountain Mentors empowers teens through one-on-one mentoring to make positive life choices. A highlight of the program is a week of hiking in the White Mountains, including a strenuous hike to the top of Mount Washington for those with great courage and stamina. This cabin is used as the base camp for the group, and we are pleased to be able to share it with you. Our cabin can be difficult to find after dark - look for the large Camp Mills or Mountain Mentors Sign at the road.
