This Historic Fort Stevens officer’s quarters, built in 1905, is bursting with character, from the charming front porch and original fir floors to the ornate tin ceilings and crystal chandeliers. A quick drive, or short bike ride on trails, will take you into Fort Stevens State Park, a 3,700 acre park with miles of ocean and river beaches, scenic hiking and biking trails, and a beautiful lake. The house is a two hour drive from Portland and a little over three hours from Seattle. The space Walk through the door of the Historic Officer's Quarters and step back in time. This house was built by the military in 1905 to house the officers and their families for the adjacent Fort Stevens military base. It is filled with fir floors, tin ceilings, chandeliers, and a grand entry staircase. The expansive front porch is a wonderful place to relax while looking out at the surrounding historic homes, and the original marching grounds that are now a city park. This is the perfect home base to explore the history and natural beauty of the Oregon Coast. We have an outdoor shed with beach toys, outdoor games, and bikes for riding the trails to the beach. Things to note: 1. We have lovingly restored this historic home. It is the ideal place to take your family, or have an intimate get-together with a few friends, but it is not a party house. We are very strict about the 6 person maximum occupancy. 2. There is parking for 3 mid-sized cars at the house. We unfortunately don't have parking available for boat trailers or RVs. A few miles from the house is the Hammond Marina. Boats can be launched there and parking is available for boat trailers. 3. Our house is a strict no smoking house. Please do not book our home if you are a smoker. If you have already booked our home and know that one of your guests won't be able to stay at our home without smoking we will gladly reimburse you 100% to cancel your reservation. Do not smoke anywhere on the property, including the front porch. A substantial additional cleaning fee will be assessed if it is apparent that there was smoking during your stay. Thank you! 4. We do not allow pets of any kind to stay at our home. The fir floors are very soft and dog claws can easily scratch them. Many people are very sensitive to animal hair and we want our home to be a safe place for all to stay. A fee will be assessed if we find that an animal has entered the house during your stay. 5. We ask that you do not wear shoes in the house. We have places to leave your shoes by both doors. Please bring your slippers! 6. The house is a side-by-side duplex. There are shared walls. Please be respectful of your noise level. There are separate seating areas for each side of the duplex on the front porch. Please do not take furniture from the side of the duplex you are not staying on, that furniture is for other guests to enjoy.
