Enjoy the use of the entire house & our 1/2 acre yard and patio. Stay connected with our high-speed Internet! We have a gas fireplace for the ultimate in winter coziness - and it’s remote-controlled. The house is about a 1/4 mile from the town's restaurants & is near wineries, shopping, wedding venues, parks & small sand beaches. The house was featured in "The Houses of Irvington: Architecture of an American Village" & Virginia Living Magazine. The space FEATURES: Bedroom #1: This room features a queen-sized bed, and two windows and is on the main level. It has an ensuite private bath with a soaking tub and no shower. Bedroom #2 This room features a queen-sized bed, and two windows and is on the second level upstairs. It has a private bath, with a shower, and no tub. Living Room: There is a sofa, a loveseat, and a chair for comfortable seating. The fireplace is gas and provides ambiance in the cooler months. The TV is great for streaming. Dining Room: The separate dining room has a table, four chairs, and windows facing the patio. It's also a nice spot for firing up your laptop to check email or do some work. Kitchenette: Our kitchenette is fully stocked with dishes, flatware, glasses, pots, and pans. We have a full-sized fridge, microwave, and stove. It is galley style. We also have a toaster oven and coffeemakers (Keurig, Drip, and French Press.) The kitchenette does not have a dishwasher. Patio: Our brick patio is at the back of the house. We have a table, chairs, and a Weber Grill. We also offer Adirondack chairs and a table and chairs at the front of the property. The house is situated on a 1/2 acre. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: We offer self-check-in, fast WIFI, free parking, and a laptop-friendly workspace. Well-behaved dogs are allowed for an additional fee. Breed and weight limits apply. The cottage is over 100 years old. The stairs are in keeping with those of a vintage house -- like Capitol Hill in DC or Old Town Alexandria, VA. Please note this if stairs may be an issue for anyone in your group. The cottage is conveniently located within walking distance of almost everything that charming Irvington has to offer. Situated on a lovely half-acre lot between the renowned five-star Tides Inn Resort and the lovely Hope and Glory Inn, the Blue House offers privacy while just moments to it all! Historic Irvington, VA has been called "Mayberry meets Manhattan." Enjoy the quaint charm of a quintessential waterfront village without sacrificing great dining, shopping, or style. Our house is an easy stroll or bike ride to a delicious meal at Dredge, The Office Bistro, Vine Wine Bar, great coffee, and more at The Local, and the various dining options at The Tides Inn. The Dandelion, Pearl, Dear Neighbor, Point Provisions, and other local boutiques offer great shopping and browsing opportunities! The Tides Inn has amazing spa services and an upscale gift shop. Enjoy history? Walk to The Steamboat Museum and check out exhibits on local history. Love historic architecture? Christ Church is one of the oldest churches in the nation and was commissioned by Robert "King" Carter and is just a short drive away. The building and the grounds are lovely. There are many other historic sights nearby. Rent a boat for fun or fishing. Golf at one of the famous local courses, The Golden Eagle or The Piankatank River Golf Club The first Saturday of the month, Irvington hosts a wonderful and award-winning (Best of Virginia, Virginia Living Magazine) Farmer's Market in the town square and yes, you can walk there as well! An open-air market featuring farm fresh produce and meats, crafts, plants, art, jewelry, and something for everyone. There are other markets in nearby towns as well. Two miles to the east is the wonderful town of White Stone. Dine at Adrift, Willaby's, or The Sandpiper, pick up delicious food to go at The River Market, Dug In Farms, or The Old Farm Truck Market, or enjoy organic fresh treats at Chesapeake Doughnut. Take scenic Windmill Point Road to Westland Beach -- enjoy drinks and watch the sunset over the Rappahannock River and the Chesapeake Bay. Kilmarnock, VA is about a seven-minute drive. There are restaurants there as well: Small Town Burger, 36 Main, Chao Phraya, Carried Away Cuisine, Los Portales, Good Fortune, Sal's Pizza, and The Car Wash Cafe. Great antique stores, upscale shopping, and RAL -- the Rappahannock Art League Gallery are all worth a visit. The Northern Neck is known for its festivals, parades, and events. All summer long there are things to do and see. The Fourth of July features local small-town parades with vintage cars and fire engines. The Irvington Parade goes right by the house. A rental agreement to protect both renters and owners must be signed before check-in. Plan a trip to our house and let the stress melt away! We interact with you by phone, text, and email! Holidays and summer months may require a booking of at least three to four days, depending on the holiday or event. We do not rent to individuals/groups under the age of 24. Guest access Our guests have access to the ENTIRE house, outdoor patio, and our half-acre yard. Hang out on our patio and enjoy your coffee in the morning or your favorite beverage at night! We also have a table with two chairs out front behind some landscaping. It's another nice spot for a drink or a meal. There are Adirondack chairs as well. We offer free off-street parking in our semi-circular driveway. Other things to note Bed linens are provided, as are towels. We offer a drip coffee maker, a French Press, a Keurig, and coffee/coffee pods. There are hair dryers and an iron/ironing board for your use. Dogs are considered on a case-by-case basis. We charge a nominal pet fee per pet (this is a one-time fee, not per day, which is very reasonable.) We do reserve the right to restrict any pet based on breed and/or size. Please clean up behind pets inside and outside. The pet fee will be sent as a separate fee, per Airbnb. The kitchenette is galley-style. It's fully stocked but it is small. There is no dishwasher. Additionally, there is one exterior camera that faces away from the house onto the driveway and street. It does not face the house, yard, or back patio area. The Town of Irvington has specific rules that apply to ALL short-term rentals. By booking with us, you and your guests agree to follow these rules, shown below. The rules below are common sense so that Airbnb's/Short Term Rentals are good neighbors to the residents. These rules are listed below. No nuisances. No nuisances are permitted at an STR. No STR operator or other person shall cause or allow a disturbance or nuisance that significantly affects the surrounding neighborhood. No disruptive parties. No STR Operator or other person shall allow, cause or participate in a disruptive party or other disruptive events at any Short Term Rental. No “open invite” parties or events. No parties or events without a set list of guests are permitted. No parties or events advertised, on social media or otherwise, to the public or large groups of people are permitted. No inconsistent noise or activity. The noise and activity at a Short Term Rental shall not be inconsistent with the typical level of noise and activity of the neighborhood in its vicinity. Quiet hours. Quiet hours at an STR shall be from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. During those hours, there shall be no noise audible at the property line of the STR. A violation of this subsection is declared to be a misdemeanor. No Trespass. It is expressly forbidden for guests or visitors at an STR to trespass on the lands or property of another. A violation of this subsection is declared to be a misdemeanor. \Wood Burning Fire Pits. Guests and visitors at an STR may not use a wood-burning fire pit. (We wish we could offer this, but the town forbids it!)
