The Great River Retreat is located between the river towns of Nelson and Alma, WI, with direct water access to the Mississippi. Enjoy the coziness of cabin feels with our private location, beautiful views, amazing sunsets, bird watching and more, along with the entertainment and large space of the great Rec room for your group to enjoy together. The space The layout of the main house is simple. There is a queen bed in the main floor bedroom and another queen bed in the loft overlooking the kitchen/dining room. The bathroom on the main floor has a large walk in shower with a second bathroom in the basement with a single stall shower. The basement also has a living space with table/chairs and couches along with a TV and DVD player. In the basement, there is also office space with a black laser printer available to our guests. Off of the kitchen is a huge 3 1/2 season porch that overlooks the water and connects to the deck where a large gas grill is located. Moving into the rec room, there is a flat screen TV, a bar, full size second refrigerator, 2 full sized couches, a huge counter space, dart board and pool table. Plenty of space for your group to gather together. Above the rec room is the remaining sleeping space we call the bonus room. 6 beds, 3 full and 3 twin, divided by a partition for added privacy. Guest access You'll have access to the entire home and use of the property outdoors. There is a guesthouse located on the property for rent that our larger groups are encouraged to book as well. There is also a large firepit with firewood available for a small fee. Shared access to the water (shared with guests staying at the guesthouse) is a flight of stairs, a walk over the railroad tracks and down a rocky path to the water. There is a dock available for guests bringing their own boat to tie off to. Under normal conditions, swimming is great off of the dock and on shore. Being we are on a river system, certain weather can lead to weeds or high water brought to our shoreline. Other things to note During snowy months, we cannot control winter weather and we will do our best to maintain the driveway conditions as promptly as possible. Guests staying during the summer months who will be arriving with a trailer MUST contact owners prior to arrival for trailer parking and specific driveway instructions.
