Cedar Springs Reserve, a 4 Season Lakefront Escape
Cedar Springs Reserve, a 4 Season Lakefront Escape
Private Retreat offering solitude and relaxation
Description
Welcome to Cedar Springs Reserve. This property totals 137 acres, and borders 398 acres of shallow lake and wetlands. Winter is a time of quiet solitude. Spring a time of renewal. Summer a riot of growth with eagle, beaver, otter and loons to observe. If you enjoy fishing there are perch bass and bluegill to be teased out of the lilies, but you will have to work hard to find them. Kayaks are provided for your exploration. Boat rentals and sand beaches at Shawano lake not far away. The space Spread out into a comfortable King Master Bedroom with its own sitting area, TV, closet and full bath. A second queen bedroom awaits with a full closet, TV, and its own exterior door. The "Hardy Boy Room" is a small room with two twin beds, bureau and closet. There is a loft with two more twin beds, accessed by a narrow spiral staircase. The living room is open-concept, with a gas fireplace and TV, and two sliding doors lead out to a large deck. TV watchers take note: this is a remote area and satellite TV is our only technology choice. This service can be spotty, especially in bad weather, (and there is a lot of that in Wisconsin) and we can NOT guarantee perfect reception all the time. If TV is important to your happiness on a vacation away, please don't choose our place, as we have no control over that situation. That said, we did not get any complaints in 2023 at all, so things may be getting better in that department. A note about the nightly charges: some guests are confused by the nightly charge as Air Bnb makes them visible, and it is easy to assume it is ok for 8 people. The nightly rate you see is for one to four people. This is kids OR adults. Its the "heads in beds" that count for water usage, septic tank hauls away, towels and sheets that must be laundered. Please reserve for the number of people who will be sleeping in the house. It bears repeating: The base charge that you see advertised is for 1 to 4 people. Additional folks - kids or adults, will be charged an additional $40 per person per night. Please be honest about occupancy and do not abuse the privilege of using our home and then just adding in more people as you see fit. WIFI users: Wi-Fi is also satellite based. that means you can check your emails and respond, but the same warning for TV also goes for internet service. Cell Phone service. some guests have service here, some do not. The safest bet is to plan on poor coverage, and that way you won't be disappointed. All folks can make calls from the front deck, and all have good coverage in town, 3 minutes away, for sure. Our house does have surround sound now with Bluetooth so you can play your own tunes and they will sound good. Instructions are in the guest book. Guest access Guests may have full run of the property, except for the storage garages where we keep our equipment. There is a wood pile outside for our construction materials, please instruct children to keep clear of that. There is a large bar/sunroom that is being worked on but not ready for occupancy yet. The areas that are fenced off are neighboring property, not ours, so please respect any fences. There are some limited walking trails but the best way to get about is to use the kayaks to explore the lake - there is a lot of wildlife out there and a sunset paddle is a must. Other things to note Starting Sept 1st-thru the end of the year is waterfowl hunting season, the lake is popular with duck and goose hunters just want you to be aware of this if you hear gunshots, not to be alarmed. Our place isn't 100% perfect yet as there are planned amenities we are still working hard to complete. as of 08.03.2022 the sunroom is not complete, all other rooms in the house are. the dock had to be removed because it was in really bad shape (we will rebuild it, but you can still launch the canoes and kayaks easily at the gravel launch site) the hot tub/pavilion is still under construction, but definitely usable, (it is functional but the exterior siding is not 100% on it, its not "beautiful") . There is an area outside where we keep the wood we are working on (all the wood we use is from the property and has to be be cut and sawed, hand-peeled). Fire pit: We just installed a wood rack for your convenience by the fire pit. The first level is complimentary. The 2nd and 3rd levels are $20 each (it takes hours to cut and split the wood there and they are generous bundles), you can just leave cash on the kitchen counter if you decide to use those levels.
