Straus Home Ranch on Tomales Bay

Welcome to our family's beloved homestead. If you’ve heard of Straus Family Creamery (the first organic dairy west of the Mississippi), the Marin Agricultural Land Trust (the first agricultural land trust in America), or the California Cheese Trail, all their roots run deep here. Our renovated 1864 farmhouse is surrounded by towering trees, 166 certified organic acres, and directly on Tomales Bay. Since 2014, we've been hosting farm stays, weddings and private events. Thanks you. :) ** The House: Setup with everything you’ll need: - Accommodates up to 10 people: 4 bedrooms upstairs, each with queen bed; plus a pull-out queen sofa in the downstairs den / TV room. Dining room with table that seats 12, and in the adjacent, fully-equipped gourmet kitchen. Indoor entertainment: 50" flat screen TV (no cable or local reception, but lots of DVDs and streaming), tons of board games, eclectic library, WiFi (~150 Mbps). Outdoor: Garden, patio with propane BBQ, upper and lower porches for chillin’, lawn games and space to hang out, including our beach on Tomales Bay just 30 seconds walk from the house. We partner with the Point Reyes Adventure Company to provide kayaking, standup paddle board, yoga and massage services. Tons of amenities, including hair dryers, iron, steamer, and EO shampoo / conditioner / body gel. All in incomparably-beautiful, magical and serene surroundings. Managed by siblings Vivien & Michael Straus (Michael lives on the ranch). With advance planning, we offer a walking tour of the ranch, complete with tales of Marin County's rich environmental, sustainable agriculture and organic food history, and our family's storied history. Guest access You'll have access to our large gardens and 'compound' (great for outdoor games, frisbee golf, or just chillin') and the beach is literally a 30-second walk from the front door. Barns and outbuildings are generally off-limits. As we are a working farm, the pastures are off-limits, unless accompanied by Michael or Vivien who, with advance notice, are happy to give a walking tour of the ranch.
