From 1867 until late 1960's the building was occupied by John Soulby a local wine merchant and then leased by Chas Rose & Co Ltd a local brewer who were based on Castlegate. George and William Bower a butchers and food provider took over the building in 1969 when the local brewery closed down and operated there until 1990 when Campbell and Mycroft a respected local accountancy and financial services company took on the ownership. The building laid empty and in disrepair for several years until 2018. For the past few years our trusted team of contractors and local craftsman have painstaking restored and converted the building into a collection of contemporary designed rooms, studio spaces and fully equipped apartments. Our aim is to offer you and all our guests a safe and enjoyable place to stay.
