Description

Planning a group retreat, family reunion or trip away with friends? Stay in our peaceful lodge on a farmlet close to all beautiful sights of the Nelson Tasman area. Sleeps up to 16 people, in great comfort. If you need beds for up to 20 people, or simply want more space or exclusivity for your group, book our separate self-contained Shearer's Cottage (up to 4 people) as well! The space Our farmlet sits slightly elevated within an idyllic rural setting in Hope, just outside Richmond, overlooking the Waimea Plains with its orchards, wineries and incredible produce. It includes paddocks where we graze a few cows and a number of lambs, the home orchard, with a small variety of fruit trees and home to our free range chickens, a gully and wetland area with native bush and bird life, a big pond, loved by our ducks and geese and of course the pear orchard. The lodge can accommodate 16 people in 7 bedrooms. (note: our separate Shearer's Cottage can be booked separately, if you need space for up to 4 more people.) The Lodge has the following rooms: 3 luxurious bedrooms with king sized beds with ensuite bathrooms and balconies (one single bed can be added into two of our ensuite rooms, if required), 3 bedrooms with king sized beds which share a family bathroom (including a massive bath), 1 family or bunk room with either 3 to 4 bunk beds or a queen size bed and two bunk beds. The king and queen beds can all be switched to 2 single beds, according to preference. There is also a separate guest toilet downstairs. The lodge has a unique modern kitchen made from recycled timber, which opens onto a large dining area with huge farmhouse table and a wood burner for the cooler nights. The kitchen/dining opens onto a large sunny verandah and a great garden area. There is a large 6 burner barbeque on the verandah, and the verandah is the perfect spot to laze in the sun on a beanbag. The lodge has Wifi throughout and a stereo in the kitchen/dining area. There is a converted hay barn behind the lodge which has a table football, for keen fans. Lots of indoor and outdoor toys are available. We are very close to the cycle trail which extends throughout the region, and we can arrange bike (or e-bike) hire for you. While purposely rough and rustic on the outside, the lodge building follows clean lines and is designed to a high spec inside. The design is inspired by the local vernacular and refined to blend in with other outbuildings around the farm. The building's proportions and exterior interpret the typical old barns seen in the Tasman area with their ramshackle patchwork of old corrugated iron, hand-made carpentry detailing and overhanging roof lines. Guest access Guests are welcome to self-cater and use the shared spacious lodge kitchen, dining area (with a log burner) and outdoor barbeque. Alternatively we can offer breakfast if requested for a small additional charge. Our breakfast options generally include some of our own produce, such as pear juice, jams and honey as well as our freshly baked bread. One of the shared lodge bathrooms has a luxurious bath, blissful after a busy day out exploring! Our hay barn, next to the lodge building doubles as a covered play area. Laundry services are available. WiFi access is free. Our guests are welcome to explore the farm. Meet our friendly chickens, ducks (perhaps even sample some of their eggs for breakfast!) and geese, enjoy having fantail follow you amongst the pear trees, spot our local kingfisher, wood pigeons and birds of prey! There are lots of quail about, the odd pheasant and of course our resident paradise ducks on the pond. Other things to note We are fairly flexible - no smoking in the lodge, no pets without prior approval. Generally check in from 2pm and check out by 10am. As we have a few animals on the farm, we ask that you leave gates as you find them. You are welcome to participate as much or as little as you like with the animals.
