Description

Come for crisp mountain mornings and the green beauty of West Virginia. Please stay at Lost Croft, on Vernal Vibe Rise—a small regenerative farm on a serene sliver of land banked by the Monongahela National Forest, and near the Greenbrier River Trail. Enjoy walks in the forest, peruse the art on the walls, and cook delicious organic Pantry Package farm meals in your own open kitchen. Your host has thirteen+ years of experience welcoming Airbnb guests. All respectful visitors welcome🌿 The space Lost Croft is located adjacent to Vernal Vibe Rise (a small, regenerative working farm). The land borders the Monongahela National Forest and allows easy access to the wonderful Greenbrier River Trail, which is perfect for casual strolling or multi-day bike rides. Come enjoy the farm and forest atmosphere, and day-trip to Lewisburg, Richwood, Cass Scenic Railroad State Park, Snowshoe Mountain, or the Cranberry Wilderness. Lost Croft is also a convenient home-base if you have plans elsewhere in the Greenbrier Valley, or even the New River Gorge National Park (which is popular for rafting and hiking). While I do welcome visitors who are interested in learning more about farming, permaculture, and intentional ecosystems, I’m no longer offering farm tours. Lost Croft makes a terrific self-styled writing retreat. Add Pantry Package meals and just show up, move in, and get creative. Guest access Lost Croft is all yours! Enjoy the expansive open kitchen and sitting room, front and back porches, and woodland area around the house—including the Monongahela National Forest across the road. Guests are not to use the wood stove or start any fires on the property. In case of a power outage, please contact me immediately and I will help resolve the situation (and provide heat, if needed). I live on the adjoining property and campers sometimes (rarely) occupy the campsite between the two houses. Other things to note Plan ahead for delicious farm meals by adding a Pantry Package to your stay at Lost Croft. I’ll curate a fresh menu that fits your dietary preferences, then stock your fridge with some of the following: beyond-organic heritage eggs, local/organic meats, fresh herbs, local baked goods, and other clean products from my farm and other nearby makers. The Pantry Package allows you to cook tasty farm meals in your kitchen, on your own schedule. Please contact me at or before booking for more details/pricing and to discuss food options. Pets are welcome—but ONLY with PRIOR APPROVAL (this is a working farm). Please send me a message before booking and we can discuss the pet guidelines. Lost Croft makes a terrific self-styled writing (or other artistic) retreat, especially with a Pantry Package—just show up, move in, and get creative! I avoid the use of synthetic chemicals and fabrics, making this an ideal home-away-from-home for people who require chem-free lodging. Please see Amenities and photo captions for details. I am happy to provide tips about local activities, including hiking, places to dine or grab takeout, and info about the local farmers markets (cloth market bags are provided for your convenience). While Lost Croft can accommodate up to seven guests, advance notice is necessary if the queen sleeper sofa or an extra bed will be needed. Please confirm this at or before booking so I can be sure to have all the necessary beds ready before you arrive. The adjacent Monongahela National Forest is an unmanaged forest (that means, among other things, that wild animals live in the area). If you are exceptionally prissy, or otherwise uncomfortable with the natural world, this is probably not the place for you. While WiFi is available, it should not be relied upon for constant or high-use internet (such as videoconferencing or streaming video) because of the finicky nature of rural connectivity. Guests can expect to complete normal online activities like loading webpages, emailing, and sending text messages. Just ask for details prior to booking, if needed. Please contact me if you have any questions or would like to preorder farm products to take home with you. Welcome!
