Old Clary Farm - the place to rejuvenate your soul
Old Clary Farm - the place to rejuvenate your soul
Description
Our 200year-old farm with its original floor boards and beams, crackling wood stove, grazing cows, and cozy front porch promises you a memorable, quintessential VT experience. Your guest room is a two-bedroom suite with a dedicated bathroom on the main floor. An additional room is available upon request. Don't miss a walk into our forest with its magical mosses, fungi and ancient cedar trees. Guests call it 'otherworldly.' And it's only 1.2 miles to the famous Hill Farmstead Brewery. The space The Old Clary Farm is a beautiful old farm house established in 1810. At one time during prohibition, this place is said to have played a major role. You can still feel the history. The front porch is a favorite place to lounge during warm summer and fall months, surrounded by 200-year-old maple trees with cows peacefully grazing in the background. The farm is a wonderful place to stroll and enjoy what makes Vermont so special. A visit to our magical trails in the old cedar grove is a must. (See a map of the trails in the photo section). You are welcome to make yourself at home in the cozy living room and of course use the dining room (where I also paint). You can 'park' your beer and food in the fridge and use the kitchen for your needs. It is a simple but very practical kitchen. We do ask that you clean up the kitchen after use. Your host is a vegetarian. Please be respectful of this while using and cleaning the kitchen. Your master suite guest bedroom where you will be sleeping is on the ground floor. It consists of two bedrooms. One could consider these rooms a two-room family suite where you can find privacy from the rest of the house. The larger room (queen bed) is the master guest bedroom. The attached smaller room (full size bed and open doorway) serves as an additional room for close friends or family members. Both rooms still have the original and stunning beams and 200-year-old floorboards. Down comforters and fresh country air promise you a relaxing and rejuvenating sleep. A dedicated bathroom with a decorative club foot tub and a shower is located on the same floor. An additional bedroom with a full-size bed is available upon request. Make sure you look up at the night sky. Without a single other light in sight, you get a clear and stunning view of the stars. Guest access Guests are welcome to access and use all spaces located on the ground floor. It includes the living room, dining room, kitchen, front and back porch. There is plenty parking available. The surroundings of the farm are absolutely wonderful. Don't miss a walk in the magical cedar forest! Upon request and for a small fee, your host will give you a guided 'forest bathing' tour explaining the science behind forest bathing and the miraculous healing powers of the trees. A trail map can be seen in the photo section. During your stay Your host can be reached by phone/text once you arrive. Keep in mind however, that this particular spot where the farm is located is blessed with no internet service once you leave the house. The same is true for your host, who often works in the forest during the day where there is no internet, but checks messages daily to make sure you have all your needs met. Other things to note From about mid June to November we may have cows in the pasture that borders the farm. They are generally friendly and may come and visit if you call them. If you pet them, remember that the fence is electric. Bernie, our farm pup, is a sweet rescue dog and is making great progress at learning proper doggy manners. He believes to be the ambassador of the farm and will guide your car to its parking space and then greet you happily with a sniff and a tail wag. Please pull in slowly to make sure the 'ambassador' has a chance to get out of the way. He will not jump up but may beg if you have some good smelling food. Please don't feed him. He gets plenty of good nutrition (even though he may disagree with me...) As a busy beaver, I am often out and about but can most always be reached by phone or txt once you are here, unless I am working in the forest where there is no service. Feel free to ask any questions. I try to be of as much help as possible.
