Description

Open Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights all year. Enjoy Acadia National Park. 1885 home and grounds are a mixture of old farmhouse and updated design/functioning. In Somesville Village (on a main road) with Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor minutes away. The house has a kitchen with dining area, 3 bedrooms, and 1 bath. We are year round residents and love to share our home ,garden, field and woods. The space The house is located close to the front of the long one acre lot and to a main road which is well traveled in the summer months. Grounds available to guests. Wood pellet stove for winter warmness and fans in every room for summer coolness. Large AC unit for second story bedrooms. Open kitchen and large dining table are favorite gathering place beside the pellet stove. We are open year round. We love to host families and first time visitors to the area and have internet access but no TV or cable. We'd rather be outside year round. We bought the property from the original family, raised our family here and now enjoy sharing the space and nature with others. We love to read and the house is stocked with books and local info. Wraparound porch, backyard deck and grounds are great places to sit, read, grill and enjoy being outside. Guest access Use of 1 acre of grounds, wrap around porch and a back deck. Wood's paths are also available. Fields and woods to explore and lots of wildlife including bald eagles, chipmunks, squirrels, osprey, gulls, coyotes, woodpeckers. Wild Maine blueberry fields, heritage apple trees, wildflowers, herbs and lupine in the fields. Guests will not have access to living room (owner's office), half-bath and mud room on the first floor. 2 bedrooms and a studio/bedroom and bath are on the second floor. Kitchen/dining area are on the first floor. Owners live in adjacent carriage house. Other things to note We are trying to be more sustainable and local. The YellowFarmhouse has solar hot water, compost buckets, recycling containers, laundry rack, cloth shopping bags for shopping, organic gardens and a well with drinkable water. We will continue coordinating with guests should they want to order and pay for Maine local ororganic farm products products to use. Send an email to hosts if you are interested.
