Popular Attractions Enchanted Circle Tour This National Scenic Byway circles Wheeler Peak, the highest in New Mexico, at 13,161 feet. Taos Pueblo Located just north of the Resort, Taos Pueblo is the only living Native American community designated both a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and a National Historic Landmark. The multi-storied adobe buildings have been continuously inhabited for over 1000 years. Pueblo artisans work in clay, leather, wood, stone and on canvas. They are inspired by timeless traditions. 3mi. Rio Grande Gorge Bridge The bridge is located 650 feet above the Rio Grande winding through the rough rock gorge on each side. The bridge was built in the cantilever truss style and is the second highest bridge of its construction in the country. Below, kayakers and river rafts pass, coming out of the famous 'Taos Box', a class IV rapids; above, hot air balloons soar. Feel the expanse of the Wild West in front of you, and the mighty Rio Grande beneath your feet. 11 mi. Kit Carson Home and Museum Taos is home to over 80 galleries and 6 historical museums including the Kit Carson Museum. Walk through history by touring the home and museum where American frontiersman Kit Carson lived with his family in Taos for 25 years.
