Holiday home for rent located in a fantastic area north of Senja-Norway's second largest island. SENJA: It is said about Senja that it is a Norway in miniature. Here you get close to nature and all its elements all year round. There is a short distance from the lake and to the highest mountain peaks. Here you will find opportunities for top tours in summer and winter. In addition, there are good fishing opportunities both at sea and in the mountains. The space The home has 4 bedrooms: Master bedroom with double bed and exit to the balcony (note access to the balcony only through the master bedroom). Bedroom 2 with family bunk (single bed upstairs and double bed downstairs). Bedroom 3 with single bed. Bedroom 4 with double bed and cot, sofa and table +table and office chair. Living room with dining table and 6+2 chairs including 2 insert plates (located in closet in bedroom 1 or located in the table). Kitchen with its own kitchen table + 4 chairs. 1 fridge + 1 freezer and 1 extra fridge in the basement. Laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer with its own drying cabinet. Garage with wood for the wood-burning stove in the living room. 6 bicycles (summer deck) for free use. Catchboard/sledges for winter activities. Games and toys. 2 snowshoes (must be booked on app 1 week before arrival). All accessories here included in the price. At the back of the house there is access to a campfire pan that is located on the lawn by the house. Guest access For those who do not like to walk high and steep, there are good opportunities to choose hikes that are easier and offer unique hiking experiences. Ånderdalen National Park can be highlighted as a recommended hiking area. It can also be mentioned that there are several places both north and south of Senja with opportunities for trips and swimming opportunities for the disabled and the national park is one of these. North Senja is known for its rich winter fishing when the Atlantic cod comes to Senja to spawn. This provides opportunities for great fishing experiences with flocks of porpoises and whales around the boat. Steinfjord: Steinfjord where the house is located is a village with both some permanent residents, but also holiday properties. Traditionally, the livelihood of the residents has been fishing and mining. Skaland is the nearest town with a grocery store (Jokern 2 km) that is open 24 hours a day, the pub Pila Pub, the motel Skagi and a newly opened motorhome camp. The popular mountain Husfjellet also has its starting point from here (Skagi). This mountain is often visited by Queen Sonja and the trail up bears the name Dronningstien (Queen's Trail). Camp Steinfjord is a tourist facility located within walking distance of the house. Here you can rent a boat and equipment for sea fishing during the season. In the summer months the tourist facility/cafe is open and you can enjoy a nice meal out on the jetty or just enjoy a glass of wine or a cold beer at sunset. With a canoe (1 piece included + life jackets) on the roof of the car you can both go to Skaland Marina and paddle from there to the many islands with their chalk-white beaches or you can paddle in a often sunbathed and quiet Steinfjord. With the bicycles (only summer tires) it is easy to cycle to a number of great places such as Tungenes, Ersfjorden, Bøvær or a trip to beautiful Medfjord with its white houses and good hiking trails. Both summer and winter have their spectacular impressions. From mid-May to late July, you can experience the midnight sun that never sets and often very peculiar lighting conditions can be seen from the house. The dark season that stretches from mid-November to mid-January also facilitates equally exciting light phenomena. From late August to late March you can experience the amazing northern lights that are reflected in the sea and light up the high and dark mountains that surround Steinfjord. The National Tourist Route passes through the fjord with a proximity to the famous mountain formation Okshornan on Tungeneset, Segla, Ersfjordstranda with Gulltoalett in Ersfjord and the lookout point in Bergsbotn. The location of the house slightly above the other houses in the village gives good views of the fjord and the vertical mountains surrounding Steinfjord. The house is from 1968 and has retained this old style and furniture from that time. 6 bicycles with summer tires (included in the rent) can be used. Canoe is located in a garage with a red gate by the sea and is included in the rent. Snowboards and sledges for winter activities. Sledding slope with lights in Senjahopen (about 10 minutes drive). Snowshoes for mountain trips in winter can be rented at Skaland/Skagi hotel. 2 snowshoes can be placed in the home, must be booked 1 week in advance on the Airbnb app. At Skaland/Skagi Hotel you can also rent kayaks and wetsuits for paddling out to 99 islands with chalk-white beaches. The holiday home can also be rented for short stays from 3 days. Cleaning can be purchased. The house is cleaned thoroughly after each stay by the landlord, and there will be access to hand sanitizer and other detergents for the washing machine. Other things to note Transport: Airports are located in Tromsø and Bardufoss. The airport in Tromsø is 218 km from Steinfjord, if you drive inland towards Finnsnes and further to Steinfjord. A drive of about 3.5 hours. You can also drive from Tromsø via Brensholmen and take the ferry over to Botnhamn and drive on to Steinfjorden via Medfjorden. The drive from Tromsø to Brensholmen takes about 50 to 60 minutes. The ferry ride takes about 45 minutes. From Botnhamn it takes about 30 to 40 minutes to Steinfjorden. From Steinfjorden to Bardufoss it is 104 km. Speedboats go to Finnsnes from Tromsø. Buses go to Steinfjorden, and schedules for both bus, speedboat and ferry can be found on the Svipper app. It is recommended to rent a car from Tromsø or Bardufoss. It is easy to take a speedboat between Tromsø and Finnsnes, but further transport to Steinfjord should be checked thoroughly as there are rare departures of public transport to the outskirts of Senja. In the summer, there may be a longer waiting time on the ferry, it is worth calculating a good time (1.5 hours) before departure.
