Make our newly decorated 2-bedroom apartment your home-away-from-home. Just off I-75 in the heart of Covington's historic Mainstrasse Village (Greater Cincinnati's favorite residential/entertainment area) our spacious 2nd floor 1100 sq.ft. Airbnb is super clean, bright & airy with full kitchen & bath, new bedding & private parking. Convenience is key & you’ll find it here. Quaint shops, salons & 30+ local restaurants & pubs are just outside our door & we’re 5 minutes from most major attractions. Spotless, cheerful, inspiring! That’s what sets our Airbnb apart from the rest. Our 3-story property was built in 1865 by Casper Otten, an immigrant and cigar maker from Hanover Germany who ran his business on the first floor and resided on the upper two with his family. Fast forward 153 years and the blueprint is much the same - retail business on the ground level, our 2-Bedroom/1 Bath Airbnb on the second floor, and a private apartment on the third. The 2nd-floor Airbnb runs the entire length of the building and totals 1100 sq.ft. The large space includes two bedrooms, full kitchen with dining area, living room, TV room, bathroom with shower, and a private balcony accessible from both the kitchen and front bedroom. The master bedroom is at the rear of the suite, adjacent to the TV room and bath. Hardwood floors, three exposed brick fireplaces (non-working), cozy tasteful furnishings, and on-site laundry make this the ideal place to stay, whether for work or play. Private parking is included with your Airbnb. We own an 11-car parking lot that is located just across the alley from the rear of our building. You may park in any parking spot numbered 4 - 11 (we lease 1 - 3 to a neighboring business). Our second floor suite is accessible by way of a well lit side-entry door that lets you into a first-floor landing. Once you are inside there is a stairway leading to the second floor as well as a laundry room tucked away just to the right of the stairs that you are welcome to use and is shared with our 3rd floor Airbnb guests. Head to the top of the stairs and you will find three doors. The two on either end of the landing provide access to your Airbnb. The middle door leads to a separate Airbnb, our third floor penthouse suite. Enter the door on the left and you are in the front half of the suite, where you will discover a cheerful, fully-equipped, newly remodeled kitchen with dining area. Beyond is a beautifully decorated, cozy living room for relaxing, with comfortable seating for five. Adjacent is the front bedroom with 2 twin beds, dresser and nightstand. The windows in both front rooms receive the afternoon sun and overlook the heart of MainStrasse’s business area. The front half of the suite also includes a cute private balcony, accessible by way of both the front bedroom and the kitchen. A hallway leads from the kitchen to the back half of the suite which includes: a newly remodeled bathroom with shower, lush towels, robes and toiletries including body wash, shampoo and hair conditioner; a TV room with large sofa, additional seating and smart TV with Netflix; and a large master bedroom at the rear of the building with restful queen size bed and tasteful appointments. The back half of the guest-suite is also accessible from the second-floor landing's third door which leads into the TV room. Being able to enter and leave the Airbnb from both halves of the suite is great for added privacy, should part of your group wish to stay out later or get up earlier than the rest. While my husband Joe and I don't live on the premises, we own and manage the business located on the first floor - an eclectic consignment shop that we started in 2005. Its open Monday through Saturday, so consequently, at least one of us is on the property throughout each day and early evening. If you need help navigating the area and our wealth of great restaurants, or you have any questions or concerns about our Airbnb, don't hesitate to pop in our store and ask. We will also be accessible by phone or text 24 hours a day and live just 5 minutes away. You are also of course, welcome to explore and shop at our store during our normal business hours. We are one of Greater Cincinnati's oldest and most respected resale shops, specializing in today's fashions for men & women as well as designer, couture and vintage apparel, accessories, jewelry, artwork, collectibles and much more. As an added bonus, our Airbnb guests receive a 10% discount off all their purchases at our store during their stay, including on all clearance priced items discounted 25 to 50% off our already low consignment prices. MainStrasse Village is a charming mid-1800's German-style village, conveniently nestled on the south side of the Ohio River in Covington, Kentucky. Also referred to simply as 'MainStrasse' or "the Village", it is one of the regions favorite bedroom communities and is located just a half-mile south of downtown Cincinnati, Ohio, with easy access by way of both the Clay Wade Bailey and I-75 Bridges. Old world charm, plenty of green space, outdoor events on the 6th Street promenade, plus a vibrant business district with quaint shops, service businesses, and ample opportunities for grabbing a quick bite, full course dinner or game of sticks and a cold beer make this one of the region's more popular entertainment destinations for locals and tourists alike. A number of the buildings are on the National Register of Historic Buildings. Many of MainStrasse's restaurants and drinking establishments offer outdoor seating, some overlooking the 3 block long, grassy tree-lined 6th Street promenade, the Goose-Girl Fountain, Goebel Park and the Carroll Chimes Bell Tower. FOR LARGER GROUPS UP TO 10 Both of the Airbnbs at The Happy Traveler are available to reserve together for groups of up to 10 guests. Although each apartment is a separate unit all of its one, both units can be interconnected so as to share the both the second floor apartment and the third floor apartment as one unit with 4 bedrooms, eight beds, two bathrooms, three living rooms and two kitchens. COMPLIMENTARY BREAKFAST FOODS We provide breakfast foods in all of our Airbnbs for our guests to prepare themselves when they first arrive. Included is a nice selection of coffees and teas to choose from, as well as fresh fruit, muffins, eggs and more. You'll find the kitchen fully stocked with pots, pans and utensils, should you wish to prepare your meals. There is also a coffee shop and a Japanese bakery cafe nearby and several other restaurants in MainStrasse that serve breakfast as well. 🧺 LAUNDRY AREA - WASHER/DRYER USE Our complimentary laundry area is available for our Airbnb guests to use and is located on the first floor, just as you enter the building. To the right of the stairway is a closet that houses a washer & dryer. It is available for use from 7 am - 11 pm on a first-come basis and is a shared amenity with our second and third floor rental units. We provide complimentary laundry detergent, fabric softener, etc. All we ask is that you keep the area clean and tidy, that you clean the dryer lint trap before and after use, and that you retrieve your cleaned laundry in a timely manor as a courtesy to our other guests. FREE PARKING IN OUR PRIVATER PARKING LOT We offer one free parking space for our airbnb guests in our 11-car private parking lot that is located directly behind our building - just a few feet from the entrance to your Airbnb. You will need to let us know the make, model and color of each vehicle in your group upon arrival as our parking lot is closely monitored and serviced by a local towing company. Additional parking space is available on a case-by-case basis and needs to be authorized in advance of arrival. STREET NOISE - MAINSTRASSE’S NIGHTLIFE MainStrasse Village is known for its popular nightlife with more than 30 restaurants, taverns and pubs in close proximity to each other. Many offer outdoor seating and outdoor music. On some weekends and occasional weekday evenings, the sidewalks can become quite busy with patrons. Nearby, I-75 and a train bridge add to the sights and sounds of urban living and the Casper Otten House sits right in the heart of it all. To insure that our guests have a restful nights sleep, white noise machines, ear plugs and eye masks are provided for light sleepers. 🛍 SHOPPING AT OUR STORE - AIRBNB GUEST DISCOUNTS You are also of course, welcome to explore and shop at our consignment shop during our normal business hours that is located on the first floor. Joe and I opened our shop in 2005 and it has grown to become one of Greater Cincinnati's oldest and most respected resale shops. Specializing in today's fashions for men & women as well as designer, couture and vintage apparel, we also carry shoes and accessories, jewelry, artwork, collectibles, gift items, home decor and much more. As an added bonus, our Airbnb guests receive a 10% discount off their entire purchase at our store during their stay, including on all clearance priced items that have already been discounted 25 to 50% off our already low consignment prices.
