We are 28 miles from Bar Harbor & 13 miles from Acadia at Schoodic in a coastal fishing community on busy Schoodic National Scenic Byway. History buffs will love stepping back in time in this historic 2nd floor space with old world feel & vintage furnishings. We make sure you have a clean & comfortable & welcoming space-no new things but it does have scenic views of Frenchman Bay & Cadillac Mountain seen through classic Second Empire windows (space is not suitable for infants or young children). The space *We cannot accommodate infants or young children.* There are open steps, furniture, and fixtures that are not child-friendly. Park beside the house and walk across the backyard to the self checkin entrance at the back of the house, passing through the utility room and up the steps. First you come to the detached kitchen, then the maple wood floors & bead board ceiling of the sitting room. Up two steps to the oldest section of the house with a queen bedroom, single bedroom, and original 1920s Jack & Jill bathroom accessible from both bedrooms. You will find vintage furniture with bathroom fixtures and interior decor from the 1930s and beyond, clean with plenty of space, but you will not find modern box store furnishings. Guest access Your private 2nd floor offers two bedrooms, a full bath, sitting room, and detached kitchen (the entire space is not suitable for infants or young children). The downstairs utility room has a washer/dryer (first come first served) and an additional refrigerator all available to guests staying anywhere in the house. There are four separate and distinct areas of the house used by the hosts and guests, each with its own private entry and living spaces. You might see some of us coming and going through the yard at times but other times feel as though you are here by yourselves. Other things to note *Space is not suitable for infants or young children.* Our house is old with furnishings to match, so you will not find new box store items. The house was built in 1875 for the Bennis family after the Captain returned from serving in the US Navy in the Civil War. It is a second floor space with unique and quirky features.
