Description
Cozy up by the decorative brick fireplaces at a trinity rowhouse, a style unique to Philadelphia's oldest districts. This comfortable Federal-era retreat on a tranquil, traffic-free lane in the heart of the city features original pine floors and many modern features. First floor: Stylish living room with original random-width pine floors, nonworking fireplace and many books. Adjoins bright new eat-in kitchen with exposed brick, ceiling fan, dishwasher, china and utensils, gas range, large microwave, coffee maker, electric kettle, garbage disposal. An 8x8 glass door to the garden and two large openings between rooms keep the whole level bright and spacious. (In many other trinities, kitchens remain in their original location, the basement.) Nest thermostat controls central air. Second floor: Handsome contemporary bathroom with two windows and large glassed-in shower area. You can turn on the rain shower without getting wet; there is also a detachable shower spray. Front room is a study with more books, television, antique table and chair for use as a desk, another nonworking fireplace, original floors, exposed ceiling beams and a room-width floor-to-ceiling closet with shelves and hangers. Top floor: Bright bedroom with sunrise-blocking window shades, original floors, comfy chair for reading, luggage rack, full-length dressing mirror, queen bed, ceiling fan and remote-controlled AC unit. Basement: New large-capacity washer and separate dryer. The whole place: all three floors plus the basement washer and dryer, and a peaceful patio garden. Ideal for visiting professionals who are looking for an extended stay — ask me about multi-month rentals. I live in an adjoining house; even when not home, I'm generally quite reachable. Happy to offer any guidance desired on all that this vibrant city has to offer. I may need to water plants in the garden, but I'll be sure to check with you beforehand. Lively and historic, the Gayborhood section of historic Washington Square West is food heaven. The country's best indoor farmers' market complex, 124-year-old Reading Terminal Market is 8 blocks away and there are hundreds of restaurants nearby. Close to all key transit services: — Subways and trolleys (3 to 7 blocks, depending on line) — Jefferson Station, hub for airport and regional rail lines (8 blocks). The airport is reached by a 25-minute ride costing $8; these trains run every half hour. — Patco rail line to New Jersey (3 blocks). — Greyhound bus station (10 blocks). — The Amtrak hub at 30th St. Station; also where Megabus and Bolt Bus land (1.5 miles). — Many city bus lines, some around the corner. — Taxis are generally plentiful. This is an expanded "trinity" rowhouse, a style unique to Philadelphia's oldest districts: three rooms stacked one per floor. (Hence the trinity nickname, evoking Father, Son and Holy Ghost.) The kitchen addition's exposed brick wall was the back of house when built nearly two centuries ago. Original spiral staircases connect each floor — if you have mobility issues, these may pose a challenge.
