Shire Cottage is a charming 17th century black & white cottage - fully modernised & furnished to a high standard. Quiet village location in rural Herefordshire, with walks from the doorstep. Perfectly set up for a family with children. Attractive large terrace with feature fire pit - ideal for al fresco dining & evening drinks. Kitchen garden stocked with a variety of seasonal vegetables for guests. The space Shire Cottage is a beautifully modernised 1680s black & white timber framed cottage, located on a quiet lane in the heart of the village of Tarrington. It offers a well sized kitchen with breakfast table seating four. Cosy lounge with exposed beams, solid oak flooring and wood burning stove for the country feel. Airy dining room with seating for up to eight. A staircase leads up to the two bedrooms and bathroom. One double bedroom with king sized bed and one twin bedroom with two full sized single beds, ideal for children and adults alike. Compact bathroom with bath and shower over. Cellar with washing machine. The large terrace offers seating for up to seven and a feature fire pit. Parking on verge outside the cottage or in the village car park (Church View). FACILITIES Kitchen: Electric oven with gas hob; Fridge/Freezer; Kettle; Toaster, Espresso machine, cafetiere, fire extinguisher/blanket etc Cellar: Washing machine Lounge: Chesterfield sofa with matching armchair and foot stool. Flat screen TV, DVD player, CD player/radio Master Bedroom: King size bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, hair dryer, iron; ironing board 2nd Bedroom: 2 full size single beds, chest of drawers, shelf unit Bathroom: Full sized bathtub with shower over; WC, sink Other: A selection of books, games, CDs, DVDs, children's toys/games and books are available for the use of guests. All linen and towels provided. LOCATION Located in the heart of rural Herefordshire, Tarrington is situated on the A438 mid way between Hereford and Ledbury. Ideally situated midway between the Black Mountains/Brecon Beacons and the beautiful Cotswolds. Malvern Hills, the Wye Valley, Hay-on-Wye, Cheltenham & the Cotswolds all under an hours drive away. Fishing available within the village at the Mill Pond Campsite. Excellent walks from the doorstep. Alexander Park 18-hole golf course 5 minutes drive. Canoe hire on the river Wye less than 10 minutes drive. LOCAL ATTRACTIONS Hereford: With its magnificent Norman cathedral, home of the Mappa Mundi (Medieval map of the world) and Chained Library. The city boasts riverside walks, many cafes and a cider museum. Hereford Racecourse stages 14 exciting National Hunt race meetings, as well as an Arab race day. 10 minutes drive. Ledbury: Pretty market town with many boutiques and cafes, home to the annual Ledbury Poetry Festival. 10 minutes drive. Malvern: Attractive spa town dramatically perched on the edge of the Malvern Hills. Voted one of the best dog walking areas in the country (and previous guests wholeheartedly agree.) 30 minutes drive. Hay on Wye: World famous book town and home to the internationally renowned Hay Festival. Lovely walks in the area. 45 minutes drive. Cheltenham: Elegant regency spa town with excellent shopping and a packed calendar of festivals - Literature, Music, Science, Jazz and of course horse racing including the Cheltenham Gold Cup. Buzzing nightlife, fine theatre, many bars and restaurants. 50 minutes drive. Cider: We are situated in the heart of cider country with many local producers of excellent real cider and perry. You have been warned! Guest access You'll have access to the whole property, including the lovely terrace and vegetable garden by the cottage. No access to the main garden. Other things to note Parking is on the verge outside the property or in the village car park 'Church View' a minute walk away.
