SUMMER ROSE a Yurt for ALL Seasons

SUMMER ROSE - Overlooking the Field of Dreams pasture, and future pond, is a spacious wooden yurt with a spectacular ceiling, personal hot tub and "Hideout" a screened in sanctuary. The Appleton Retreat is situated on 120 acres of privately owned land. To the south, a short walk from Summer Rose, is the Pettengill Stream, a resource protected area where you can view wildlife or kayak; and to the north, a wooded trail leads to a secluded pond on 1,300 acres of Nature Conservancy protected land. The space Summer Rose is a 25" diameter custom Smiling Woods wooden yurt. (Silver Moon and Snow Sweet are not quite as spacious but have an addition that includes a foyer, bathroom and screened in porch.) Summer Rose has the "Hideout", a screened in sanctuary with a view - see pics. The yurts have an incredibly beautiful ceiling and dome that allow stargazing from the comfy queen bed....... or you may prefer to be outside, on the deck, in your personal therapeutic hot tub........ and a fire in the firepit. (We charge $10 for a fire wood kit....... or collect your own wood from the forest.) Summer Rose is on grid with all the amenities you expect in a home...... including air conditioning and a flushing toilet..... AND EV OVERNIGHT CHARGING. It is private, but not secluded in the middle of the woods as the Smitten retreat is, that is nearby. For those trying to get away but still needing to work Summer Rose has a lightning fast fiber wifi connection...... or screw the work and just stream a movie! Enjoy dining in cooking in the kitchen. All utensils, pots & pans etc, are supplied and there is a good size refrigerator and gas range. There is also a grill on the deck. The water at The Appleton Retreat is excellent, so don't bother bringing bottled water. Seemingly in the middle of nowhere, The Appleton Retreat is just 30 minutes to the scenic mid-coast towns of Belfast, Rockport, Camden and Rockland. And in midsummer if you want to avoid tourists visit the laid back nearby towns: Hope, Liberty, Freedom, Washington, Searsport...... and many other towns to appreciate real Maine character. Guest access You are welcome to explore all areas at The Appleton Retreat. The wood fired cedar hot tub and sauna are available upon request at an additional charge. Other things to note TRANSPARENCY - PLEASE READ! In early 2025 The Appleton Retreat installed a large ground based solar array to service the seven retreats. The array can be seen from Summer Rose. See pictures: Deck, Living Room, and Exterior that show how the panels impact the view. The "Hideaway" screened in shed will be moved in late Spring. Currently the view is obscured by the solar array. ALSO, in 2025 The Red Barn became our 7th Retreat. It is a large house that in the Winter can be seen up the hill behind Summer Rose. See Exterior photos. The pond.... OR IS IT A LAKE? There is a trail starting at Braeburn leading to Newbert Pond. It is approximately a 30 minute walk through a well defined forested trail on Nature Conservancy's 1,300 acre reserve. To the East is the Pettengill Stream which The Appleton Retreat property borders. It is a huge 40 mile aquifer. The stream, albeit not very wide is navigable by kayak, which we provide. (In the draught of 2020 it was NOT navigable in the summer months.) In winter cross country skiing is great, Mother Nature willing.
